yep sealed games are a good decoration for every game room!
  • well first of all. when said that there is no point in the box. I started collecting the boxes for one reason. I wanted the manual and game and it was getting annoying and unorganized to have all those manuals and games around and trying to keep them together and games like Final Fantasy or Zelda with a big book or multiple maps

Actually, there's a third type: those people (like me) who are both collectors and gamers alike image  I love to have the games to play, but I also love having all those useless (but pretty) little boxes lined up on the shelf.
  • I wish i had time to just sit around and play all my games...but having a job, a wife, and a son really negates that...i play very little and collect for the sake of collecting...i started out buying and selling for profit and then starting keeping 1 copy of each game and have got bitten by the CIB bug and am now starting on that (all that in a very short time span...it all got to me pretty quickly).
  • I am another cart only collector.  I don't have any fond memories of boxes as a kid, just the games, so that's what I care about.  I would also rather buy a game that I think is fun (or looks fun) than several games to add to my "collection".

  • I think boxed games look alot better on shelfs than carts. As for sealed, yea i collect them but only because i find them.

not talking about your sirwilletts but this saying in general

Yes. Most if not all of us. Have a Job. Most of us have a wife and kids. There are 24 hours in a day. You have time to search ebay, craigslist, be on NA, look at your collection stuff blah blah blah. Come on now this is such an invalid excuse for the reason people collect and don't play the games. There not all the Legend of Zelda. Most don't even have a end point. So come on..

Again not talking to sirwilletts. as your a cool dude image

  • Valid point skipper...

here's something that hasn't come up yet...i will admit that i am a bit OCD...and i think collecting for the sake of collecting is an outlet for my OCDness...it gives me something to gather, organize, clean, try to complete, make look like it is perfect order, etc (and when i'm done cleaning and organizing...i do it all over again). food for thought

Maybe the same ebay prices. But what I pay and everyone else thats smart pays the Complete is much cheaper than the Factory Sealed.

I've bought many sealed games for less than the price of a CIB.  So has dain.   If you're patient enough it happens.
  • Definitely.. I've had very good luck finding sealed games for considerably less than the CIB counterpart (ie, Cowboy Kid, Race America, Cliffhanger, etc), all $20 or under.

well the bulk of my collection are $5-$8 shipped or bought at a store you have bought Factory Sealed games like Bomberman, Demon Sword, Ninja Gaiden etc... for this price sealed??!?

if so where? cause I would think it near impossible to find these titles sealed for anything less than $20 shipped

    wow that are good prices!

  • I think one thing that should be noted is that certain sealed games are not meant to be open. There are certain games, like Zelda and Zelda II, that would drastically lose value if they were opened. So obviously if you stumble across anything like that, don't open it! Most of you already know this, but for the newcomers I thought it'd be worthwhile to mention this.
  • yeah thats right groove!
  • At least open one copy of all the good games, they're needed for the list. image

WOW!!  That is the EXACT same reason I collect.  I haven't played an NES game in about 15 years. I had an NESS as a kid and loved it, but I'm not into video games at all now.  I collect them for the sake of nostalgia, I remember having some of this stuff as a kid. And like sirwilletts said, I'm very OCD, I love putting my new games in alphabetical order!
  • Nostalgia is one of the most reasons why people collect sealed games!

    yeah good reasons!
  • A game that is hermetically sealed off from the world by a thin layer of plastic is lifeless. No one has ever enjoyed it besides those who find in enjoyment in looking at it. This is similar to someone who enjoys looking at a beautiful woman more than kissing her; it
  • if that is your opinion than you maybe do not see the cover artwork ...

Yeah, I'd rather just open any sealed games and play them. But, if people like to collect sealed, that's coo' too : )

  • Sealed items are very beatiful, but that´s all. I can´t imagine a more hideous torture than having a very good factory-sealed game that you love to play but can´t open because it would lost its financial value. Torture for games, holy grail for collector´s... double personality.
