There's a bunch of these that just popped up, anyone know anything about them? These have been up before at twice the price.

I don't know if the screen is backlit or not, that's the biggest problem. Also you must use batteries, no AC option or so it seems.

That one talks about a backlight so it's a possibility but the packaging's obv different. I'm seriously considering this! Wonder what the battery life is like. This would be super to test games before I ship them. Hell I'm just going to go get one and I'll let you all know image

  • If it's only $50, this thing is probably a piece of crap.

A decent screen costs at least that much by itself.

On 3 AA batteries...I'll venture the guess of 40 - 50 minutes at the most.

Good luck though. I guess it would give a decent starting point to retool with better controls/screen.
  • The button placement is also really terrible...

The d-pad looks like it's from a PlayStation controller, which is actually one of my favorite d-pads.

  • Hm, I'd be into this if I knew it was a 72 pin. You don't want to play something like this with an adapter.
  • I'd go for it, but I wouldn't have my hopes too high.
  • Sounds like a somewhat viable and cheaper alternative to the Game Axe... Depending on funds, I might get one of these myself.
  • Hm it does say US NES 8-bit...

This is true, which would mean you wouldn't have to track down one of those difficult-to-find 72-to-60-pin converters (the opposite of what would likely be found in an early Gyromite cart, for example)...which would also mean that it'd be an even more viable Game Axe alternative.
  • Those converters aren't that hard to come by.

They come with all of the Yobo famiclones, so they must be fairly plentiful.

Still you wouldn't want a portable that used one...the games are already too tall for that as it is.

It doesn't change the fact that there is no way that a system like this costing $50 can have a decent screen.

  • lol well it doesn't exactly need to be PSP quality image
  • Hell.....I am curious. I bought the darn thing.....I'll let you all know.
  • I just saw one of these at this game shop I just went to today.
  • What were they asking for it $$?
  • I'm not sure, I forgot to ask since I was in mostly a hurry.

I'll check next time, and ask to try it out.
  • A few months back I saw a few different guys making NES handhelds like these. I wonder how they would compare.
  • ^^^ They would probably be MUCH higher quality if they're hand-made by a private modder.

Just surf around Ben Heckendorn's website to see how much better modders are at this then some shitty Chinese/Taiwanese/Korean manufacturer.

Only difference there is that the GOOD stuff is prohibitively expensive (probably $500 AT LEAST).
  • supposedly this thing gets around 6 hours of life on those batterys, which is quite decent BUT for the life of me I cant find the manufactures website, when you get it or if you know it please leave a comment would like to check them out
  • Anybody know the answer to the Q above? bump

  • I officially request a clone collector pick one of these up image
  • The brand is hyperkin, and the website is a disgrace
  • I have already ordered one....and it plays usa carts wo adaptor (he said)....I will let you all know when I get it.
  • Hyperkin doesn't have a front-end because they are just a manufacturer, and they deal only with wholesalers, who in turn deal only with retailers.  So it's really up to the retailers to pitch these products.   Hyperkin makes the green zapper, and an nes-004 remake controller as well as alternate versions of the FC Neo-Fami, FC Twin and Gen-X.

Great!  Post some pics too if you can image

  • Yah I pussied out because I bought that Starfox competition cart earlier last week and shot my wad, it's up to the 'Worm now image
  • I would really like to know how these work as well,  I have a few other portable systems but they both use adaptors and as a result they are really unstable, also the controls kind of suck.

Could always get one of these as well. DS Famicom adapter called Cyber Familator Lite, and with a 72 to 60 pin converter it should play NES games. It has tv out too.

  • BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
  • that would be about right
  • Another NOAC device...
