Ha, yeah I used to have that Godfather song on a mix cd. YAYAYAYAYA GODFATHA! I used to have a Tomahawk and Mr. Bungle cd, but I don't really remember what they sounded like; I'll have to look them up again.
Been listening to some of my old Type O Negative stuff. I whipped out their old album "Slow,Deep, and Hard" in memory of Peter Steele, who passed away last night. Sucks to hear.
Who else here likes 80's and 90's metal? Not the hair stuff, I mean thrash and death. My favorite is Megadeth, so they're always in the music rotation, but I've been listening to a lot of Bathory lately.

Awesome, I ordered a Bathory shirt a couple weeks ago off of eBay that I'm still waiting for.
I was listening to Dissection in the car earlier, Storm of the Light's Bane I think it was. I'm also going to the Wolves In The Throne Room show in Portland next week, they're playing with Earth, super excited to see them again.
I'm just so bored with most new music. Instead, I'm always finding bands from the 80's & 90's that I've never heard of (at least never heard their stuff). Old Onslaught is pretty good, too. But Bathory, man those dudes were awesome.
I'm on shuffle right now, and it is such a good fuckin' shuffle! last couple bands were This is Hell, The Banner, Shai Hulud, Poison the Well, Misery Signals, The Carrier... I never get shuffles this good!

I was pretty shocked to hear that as well. TON has been the one constant over all of the years I have been into music, back to the Bloody Kisses cd. Incredibly sad stuff, especially since they have been saying he was doing well and getting his life back in order, being sober and all. Sad stuff

no doubt, good stuff. I'm going to Maryland Death Fest in about a month and I'm gonna see some great oldschool death metal/thrash/black/grindcore bands such as Possessed, Gorguts, Autopsy, Obituary, D.R.I, Repulsion, Entombed, Incantation, Necrophobic, Pestilence, Sadistic Intent, Deceased, and even some really old doom stuff like Pentagram is gonna be there, which is pretty sweet. Plus tons more.
Bathory is good too, I was listening to Under The Sign of the Black Mark yesterday.
I've been on a Beatles kick lately, but other than that I've got the new Train CD which makes me feel like I'm getting more in touch with my feminine side .

If you haven't heard Wolves In The Throne Room yet, you should give them a listen. They're a fairly new band, but they're doing black metal the way it's supposed to be; they put a ton of feeling behind their music without trying to put as many arpeggios as possible in a song. That's what's wrong with these whipper snappers nowadays and their "deathcore" garbage.
http://www.wittr.com/ http://www.southernlord.com (pretty much everything on Southern Lord is good, and they have a good mix of genres, like Sunn, Trap Them, The Accused, Burning Witch, Pelican)
ANYWAYS! Enough of my rambling....
I've been listening to a lot of Death, and I'm still trying to learn a whole Necrophagist song on the guitar, that's what I've been doing for the last hour or so.
OH! And listen to Death Breath. It's a new-ish band that plays oldschool stuff, and they are awesome:
Oh man, it's great to see more Southern Lord love around here! At my college radio station, where I was the Music Director, I'd always drop everything if I received something from that label...the mighty Earth, Sunn, Boris, all the doom/drone stuff there is great. Wolves In The Throne Room is also fantastic...have you heard of Eagle Twin at all? They're also pretty top-notch on Southern Lord.
But otherwise, as far as what I'm listening to....I've been on a great Japandroids kick lately, just saw them in concert and they rocked the house pretty hardcore. Inbetween that, I'm also digging a lot of Main Source, Big Daddy Kane, Trouble and Entombed...mixing it up a little.

I've been listening to Left Hand Path lately, and if you like Entombed you should check out Death Breath as well, because there's an Entombed guy in that band.

yes! My favorite version of that song! I pretty much lose my head every time I hear that version (head banging like a madman)

I've got the new Train CD which makes me feel like I'm getting more in touch with my feminine side
The only way to get in touch with some feminine side is to listen to Train.
