Thanks mate and I'll keep them coming, got quite a special Mushihimesama game to show (I know you know what I mean) on here at some point! My 360 shmup collection is my pride and joy, my position as of 4 months ago, I've got even more now:[/color:1vzce399] http://www.youtube.com/user/gmintyfresh?feature=mhee#p/u/25/y0ERs7ijZXM
DFK release is a real coup for PAL gamers going to pick myself up a copy even though I've got this beauty:[/color:1vzce399]

Really glad this quality shooter is going to get a wider audience and my friends are going to get the opportunity to play it.[/color:1vzce399]

It's on of those rare shmup conversions when the Saturn port whilst being good is slightly inferior! I completely agree. [/color:2bjoar15]

• What does shmup mean exactly? Foreign?

It's just a contraction of "shoot-em-up" that applies mainly to 2D scrolling shooting games like R-Type and Raiden.
• Ah...like gunbird?

Yep . . .GunBird's a good example.

I hate the bloody expression myself . . ."space shooter" would be good enough for me

(Then some bright spark would coin the term "spooter" - or something equally as daft
• I would be so happy to have that Trigger Heart-box! It looks awesome!
And I love the artwork! But I looked it up on eBay and it's quite expensive...

I've never been keen on the term myself, I like the oldschool term shoot-em-up. The only problem with "shooter" is that FPS fans think youre talking about that genre and convincing some COD fans that there were games before that series is an uphill task!! Shmup avoids any confusion! [/colortuxiupy]

THE Enhanced LE was always expensive unfortunately mate, I've had it since release and it was around the £70 mark even then!!

The artwork is lovely, there was a seperate artbook released around the time of the DC versions release - I'll post a photo at some point for you to see.[/color:2jaeoqr2]
• I'll try and get a new series of pictures up tonight - lets hit the Jap PS1 next [/color:1e0wgizl]

• I finally visited Youtube and watched some of your vids. I hadn't realised you were such a major shooter freak/geek.

Great stuff, mate - or as Eddie from "Bottom" might say . . .

Thanks for looking mate!! Yep hunting shootemups is the main focus of my collecting habits, I'm a little bit obsessed that way and your description, geek is very apt! [/color:haxag9h5]

Yep spiffier is that awesome Ikaruga player, met up with him last Friday - he told me he's but 400 hours into the game, insane!

Sorry for making you buy those games mate Isn't collecting ace?[/color:31zeznyw]

Yep, correct Time Bokan Yattaman is as far as im aware a euro exclusive, and mainly released in Italy. Though I cannot prove it, I don't think the game was distributed to any other countries, It's just easier for German buyers to get games from Italy.

Is the below the jap cover? or jsut a poor manual scan? I dunno.

I will disagree though; japanese shmups on PSX on Saturn seem to have risen in price recently, and it's pissing me off haa

I mean to buy PAL BTI. at some point, it crops up so rarely though. When I do get a copy the that might shed some light on establishing if it was a euro only. I never saw it at retail in the uk or even listed!

The picture you attached looks like the Jap cover art of the standard release of the game, it doesn't help that there are a few Jap PS1 Yatterman games and I've seen Bokan listed on ebay a few times with the wrong cover!

The Pal release variation of the cover is slightly different, it's listed in the database mate take a look it's quite interesting.

I picked this sucker up for a £5 including P&P a few month ago, it retails for about £12-£15 generally though. The Saturn version really has always been more expensive!

It's quite scary the way those DC shooter prices have risen in the last 6 months eh mate?[/color:21ajofni]
• Looking at that cover image again mate I think it's a Jap variation of the standard release because I've just noticed the euro version of the cover that I mentioned in the last post is nearly the same. the plot thickens![/color:1ze405x7]

• I've contacted my man in japan, about these Time Bokkan Yattaman games, and he says there were a few released for ps1, he'll get some photo's for me hopefully, but without the intent to buy, I think it'll take some time. HOpefully he'll spread a lil light on the issues.

Yattaman pal isn't so rare though, I've never searched the internet for a copy and not found a copy for sale. Just the price seems to leapfrog, one minute it's £10, the next it's £40. But they never sell for the high buy it nows.

In regars to shmups, pricing has really started to get to me. But with the cabinet, I just don't feel right playing shooters on a console, odd.

Either way, I was bidding on a DUX LT ED with the stick, and it sold for almost £400. I was prepared to pay £150 =/ same with Last Hope, that's gone up in price quite recently too.

I was planning on buying one of the Cave Hori sticks for 360, but afetr seeing the prices I just laughed

• Cool, I'd really like to get to the bottom of that!!

I agree with you I'm sure that Pal version is uncommon rather than rare, I could have picked up a copy for £15 about a year ago and I'm kicking myself that I didn't get it!! Ah well I'll know for next time!

I'm very much a console shmup fan but I do have a plan to build a dedicated R-Type Leo cab next year, really going to enjoy that project - picked up the first component a few months ago. It was only a marquee but still I had the feeling that the adventure started here!

Man that's silly money for Dux LTD with an arcade stick! I've got the ltd + one of the first 100 preorder copies with an exclusive soundtrack. Never seen one of those for sale in the wild!
