How do I fix a rattle in an nes cart? I know I have to take it apart but are there steps to do it that make it easier on me? Thanks in advance for your help.
I've found (at least with SNES Carts) that sometimes the back half of the cart can be the issue, if the whole board is moving within the case. I bought a really beat up copy of Zombies ate my neighbours that rattled, yet there was nothing inside when I opened it up to inspect. Turns out the board had worn out the mounts on the back half of the case through the years of abuse, causing the usually snug fit to let the board move around. I simply swapped the back half of the cart with a willing donor (SF II Turbo, in my case) and it's snug with no more worrying "rattle from nowhere". Not sure if NES carts are prone to the same problems, but just my 2 cents.
...Seriously though, get yourself a bit. Sometimes they need tightened, other times, you have a random peg floating around in there. Not to hard really.
If the board is causing the rattling, I usually use a little electrical tape where the board has the movement. Just to make the board fit snugly in the mount. Easy fix.

It explains how to fix the rattle and/or broken plastic tabs that hold the PCB in place within the cart. Hope this help.
