Ebay shipping?

Ok a seller had a bunch of manuals for sale as BIN or FO he accepted my offers and i won 14 of them, i recently got 30+ manuals from another seller who sent them in a flat rate box for less than 6$.

This seller wants 13$ to ship the 14 manuals, asked him to do a priority box since thats an aweful lot to send some manuals and he replies saying:

Sorry but I am not going to adjust the shipping, the shipping on each item was put on the item on so I actually get paid properly. These will be shipped with each one in protective plastic and will not fit in a tiny box. I do not just ship them in a box, i want them protected since they are a collectible. We do not ship crappy packaging we like to make sure you get a good clean shipped item , the box will be over 4 LBS I am sorry I did cut the shipping from 25-12.50 and I accepted offers lower then I was asking, you got a very good deal even with 12.00 shipping. Some of these were doing over 8.00 per on average on ebay. If I do not accept your offers these would have sold for more eventually. I mean I sold the FF2 and FF3 for 30.00 I know what I have

Like i know he is bullshitting me to make more $$$$ off the shipping, is there anything i can do here? Like it doesnt seem hard to toss them in a box at my request and if any damage happens in transit its my fault so i live with it?

  • if you got a good deal eat the cost and move on.
  • when i ship to CAN a flat rate envelope is right around 13 bucks

u can also fit a box inside of the envelope
  • Im shipping to the states btw, and it was only a good deal if it was normal shipping, not a great deal after the extra fee. 42$ for 14 manuals :S
  • well that is different then, you can always let your feelings be known through feedback or tell the seller you want to cancel the transaction
  • ill prob cancle most of them since i dont want to be overcharged for nothing.
  • of course I forgot to say is that how the seller listed them and was shipping fully disclosed? If so than that is on you
  • He has a few negatives and they are all for overcharging on shipping >.< And it said 2$ USPS, which would make sense to use a USPS flat rate box to send them all for under 6$, he claims wrapping them each in their own plastic makes them not fit in one and justifies the 13$ shipping charge.
  • Seems as if he has already admitted to charging you more just to get more money, which is against Ebay policy.
  • ya i know right!
  • He opened cancellation cases on all of them, i accepted a few. But refused on some, now he says he cant revise into a combined listing due to all the retard cases he opened up, is this true? He wants me to cancel them all stating he will relist and accept my offers again and then sell them, which seems more like, ya once i cancel he will block me and i wont be able to get them.

So in short, can listings not be revised after a case? Or is he BSing me trying to weasle his way out?

PS: I told him if that is true, then discout 1$ on each item then, same principle applies with his half price shipping philosophy.
  • Is he adding insurance or tracking. Depending on where your shipping that can have a big effect, also if hes packaging them all up really nice that might also cost him a bit extra. I recently shipped an item to UK, it cost $6 if I added tracking the price would have jumped to $42. I shipped another item to Austrailia a few weeks ago, that cost $1.20 I was able to add tracking and insurance and it still cost under $5. I really dont get how the post office comes up with there rates. So who knows for sure.
  • Well im shipping to the states, and i told him dont do anything fancy, toss them into a flat rate box, ive had no problems with that before ever (hundreds of manuals bought). He just refuses to do it and clearly is just trying to make money off shipping, but do you happen to know if after a case is conducted the items are no longer able to be combined with others or have their prices revised like reduce there price each by 1$ to incorporate his half price discount?
  • When he said

"I do not just ship them in a box, i want them protected since they are a collectible"

I would be like "I won them, I paid for them, I want them in a box."

I mean seriously, I've sent tons of manuals, in a bubble mailer with super thick boards around the manuals so they wont bend. Now, if the buyer asked for a box instead, no questions asked, I'll find a box. Either way, they didn't come to the price he may be asking.
  • Im not exacty sure what you mean. The seller can change the shipping rates to whatever they want on your ebay invoice. If thats what your asking.Did his auction say anything about combined shipping?
  • The guy just opened a bunch of cases to close so now he says he cant combine them now.....so i said thats fine if you cant combine then just reduce each one by 1$ and i will buy each individually. No reply from him yet. Not the ad but i asked him and he was like ya sure, so combined to me means everytihng in one box for the cost it takes to ship, not some guys view to make more $$$.

If he replies saying he cant edit the prices (by removing 1$ each) due to him opening the cases that are now closed, is he BSing me trying to cancel the sales? Or is that true.
  • Sounds like BS to me. I would cancel everything and get my money back and find the manuals elsewhere. But first before I got them somewhere else I would add him to my blocked users so none of his listings would show up when I searched. Dude is just trying to make a few extra bucks.
  • Well if he said he would combine shipping I would think that he would send them together, but even still if hes not going to do that then there should at least be some sort of discount on the cost. The more you buy the more you save is generally how most sellers increase sales and customer satisfaction.
  • If he is BS you I imagine, he will end up reply'n with a cheaper price.
  • Ya i figured, kinda sad how he is trying to get a few more bucks which should just be attributed to the cost of shipping.
