FC3 question

I dont have a NES just yet.  I am currently using an FC3 machine to test my NES games.

I notice that one one of my games "legacy of the wizard" that there is no sound.

I was wondering if there is a problem with a cart that could cause it to not have sound.  If it isnt that then I am guessing that my FC3 player simply is having cart emulation problems.

Anyone know if a game could be broken in a way to where it has no sound?

  • I'm sure it could crap out in such a fashion, but in all likelihood it's one of two things - something happened to the audio output of the console, or it's simply a compatability issue (many games have them with clone systems).
  • No way to be sure if you cant find an nes to test it on. I had a few games that did that on a normal system. But like the wizard said, i agree that its likely to be your clone. BTW, whats up to mr wizard. I figured it was time to make a move.
  • Travis from NESForums eh? Welcome to NA
  • Thanks for the input guys.

The output of the console works just fine on other games so I dont think that is an issue.
  • Well the local retro gamestore had another copy to swap for my old one. Once I clean it I will test it to see if it has the same problem telling me if it was the cart's or the machine's fault.
  • My bandmate had a Yobo FC1. What a piece of crap... I'll be honest, it held up like a champ, but felt lighter than air and getting carts in/out was such a pain. I can see the FC3 being a valuable cheap testing station, though.
  • I have a few different systems but the FC3 is nice because I can keep it downstairs and use it as a cheap testing station as you so wisely put it.

I tested the game out and found that it also did not have sound. FC3 player to blame.

  • Hmm... I'll try it on my FC3 when I get back from work. I could have sworn that when I checked that game on the FC3, it played sound.
  • I would say the FC3 is at fault. I have a FC twin that I use from time to time and certain games it inverts colors and does some weird shit. but if i load the game into a nintendo console it works just fine.
