Top 5 rarest licensed nes games

can anyone help me out and tell me the top 5 rarest licensed nes games released and about how much they are worth.

i know of these:

Flintstones 2 I'm guessing about 250.00
Little Samson I'm guessing about 85.00
Bouble Bobble 2 I'm guessing about 125.00

  • Stadium Events.. 1300+

Are you talking just loose carts or CIB?
  • Not nessassarily rariety, but price wise I'd say it's as follows.

    1. Stadium Events -$1500

    2. Flintstones 2 --$250

    3. Bubble Bobble 2-$125

    4. Little Samson --$75

    5. Bonk's Adventure---$75

    6.Snow Brothers $-50

    7. Dragon Warrior 4 -$40

    8. Contra Force -$ 35

  • cool thnx for the lists.

    i've been wondering about this.
  • yea, udisi pretty much hit the nail on the head with that list.
  • Udisi's list is pretty dead on, but I'd say 225 on Flintstones 2 and 100 on Bubble Bobble 2. A couple of F2 auctions have gone pretty high recently, but I don't think it'll stay there.
  • Bubble Bobble 2 is the 3rd most valuable licensed game, but it is NOT the 3rd rarest...not even close.
  • There are tons more games that are rarer but go for considerably less. For example, Last Action Hero is probably rarer than BB2, but it's not worth squat.
  • I think he's looking for a list of the carts that he'd have to shell out the most for. Udisi mentioned in his post that his list was pricey titles, not necessarity rare ones.

I think some of the cart rarities in the database are kinda skewed. I don't think Wayne's World carts are rarer than a lot of the carts rated a 6, for example.
  • for rarity Dragon Warrior 4 is pretty high (I think it was fewer than 500,000 made)
  • ^ Dude, 85% of the library had less than half a mil made.
  • I'd bump off Contra Force and insert TMNT:TF, it goes for about the same but I think it's considerably more scarce. Otherwise, right on

My bad.  I just remember seeing the release chart comparing the different DW games.

At least two of the others were in the millions of copies.

Well, if that's the case, why is DW4 so "rare"?  (maybe I missed a digit...I suppose it could have been 65 ,000 copies...)

  • - End of NES lifespan

    - sequels always have predictably diminishing returns therefore production is scaled to match the forecasted demand

    - high cost of included materials (oversize manual, maps) meant tight numbers (costs more for distributors to buy, so they purchase fewer with intent to reorder later)...
  • good point.

i have one out of the list image

  • At least I've got them all but SE. Sure they're all cart only save BB2 but not too shabby.
  • What about Mario is Missing and Mario in Time? I see them hitting $50 ea. as well

I'm not entirly sure as to their production numbers but i know they pull some cash still too
  • DW IV is not rare at all, there are always cart onlys listed on ebay and almost always at least one cib listed on ebay. It is value stems from demand/popularity/name. It is a highly sought after game by both collectors and gamers, hence the price tag.
  • ^ Exactly. In fact, DW III is probably more scarce than IV simply due to the huge coverage NP gave to IV back in the day (III got a scant couple pages at the front of a giant review for IV). And they were only released like 10 months apart, IIRC.
  • I would consider adding Mario's Time Machine to the list over DW4.
