Why did I give DISCOUNT GAMES another chance???

This is exactly what I knew I would get when I hit the buy it now button. Just showing you guys so you will know next time you do.

I won this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290226254333&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=019

It shows up 11 days later like this (I took pictures of it before I opened, I already knew)

Thank you discountgames for service you can count on............to suck.

  • Live and learn. Then learn again.
  • lol. you should know better, everyone should!
  • Yep, I've gotten in 3 Sealed NEW N64 games this week 2 that were just wrapped with a brown paper bag and taped up and 1 in a bubble mailer, all horribly unrecognizable as formerly sealed New N64 Games... image
  • fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. that sucks I would ask for a partial refund
  • I am currently bidding on many common games by discount games. Couldn't resist winning them at $0.01! I hope I get good service.
  • partial my ass, all I needed was the box!! lol
  • There doesn't appear to be urine stains, or burn marks on the packaging, that's way above their usual standards.
  • What a douchebag. I was looking a few days ago and he actually has one of the boxes I need as well. Was tempted to hit the BIN but I knew this would happen to me too.
  • The newspaper wrapping just screams, first class seller! They're doing less than half the business they were doing a year ago at this time, so don't expect them to stop cutting corners anytime soon.
  • That just sucks big time. image
  • Yeah, I almost bought something from discout games once, glad I didn't after what I've seen ...
  • I don't know why you trusted them again. Ya get what ya pay for. Hopefully, you learned this time.
  • that is f'ed up.
  • perhaps he will give you a "Discount" on your next purchase.
  • The key to buying from DiscountGames (if you dare) is to buy at least 6+ boxed/CIB games. At that point, they typically send in a Priority Mail flat rate box (at least they used to).
  • I have seen a few things I wanted. Tried one time over a year ago and it was a pain in my ass took them 3 tries to get it right I had to mail back the screwed up order and wait another week. NEVER AGAIN

With service like this, hopefully in another year they'll do everyone a favor and go under.

Given the experiences of all you guys with buying from him, I'd count that a blessing.  I was turned against buying from him in the first place (long before I was even a member here) simply because of his auction format and how high his feedback was (which even then was something like 40,000)...  In fact, given what I now know about mass resellers, I'd probably buy from sosafan2 and pedro! (as they seem to be good and honest people), possibly one or two others, but Discount Games and DK Oldies wouldn't have a chance of getting my business.
  • Sosafan and Pedro kick ass to deal with. I wouldn't put them in the same category as most other resellers. I've had nothing but great experiences with both of them.
  • ^^I'd say the same about TFGZ (triforcegamez)
  • Where is the postage?

Did he send that with no tracking?
  • He's using Permit Imprints. Which means it's easier and faster for him to ship his defective garbage.  And no, he's not paying for DC on them.

Never dealt with Pedro! myself, but I agree with Sosafan being an excellent guy to deal with.  Thankfully, I've never dealt with Discountgames either...for fuck sakes, it doesn't cost much more to send it in a damn box!
  • Discount Games ships everything through UPS. With smaller packages like this, He gives them all to UPS, then UPS sends them on to USPS after sorting by zip code. It's a program that UPS/USPS work together on so that they can offer better deals for businesses who do lots of mailing. Discount Games in turn saves about 10% on postage this way. The downside for buyers is that it slows down the mailing process for their buyers by at least a day over other sellers who just go straight to USPS.

Dittoed. Except I utterly hate sosafan. Every time I'm after a specific lot he's always there with me too. Bastard. =)

Seriosuly though, that sucks. I've only had that happen to me a few times (oddly enough usually with sealed games), but they're still arrived in surprisingly good condition.

  • Hopefully at this rate Discountgames will be out of business soon and we won't even have to see all of his crappy auctions..
  • Resellers have to buy at a price that will allow for a profit, and that's typically significantly less than if you had to buy each game individually. So to win auctions they're bidding on, you have to price out the lot, deduct a reasonable margin for profit, and then bid higher than that. They win and get outbid all the time -- if you bid and lose, you may want to re-consider your initial bid. These guys do this for a living, and you can bet they're not going to let many profitable lots go unnoticed.

Or, do what I typically do and just stick to the smaller lots that attract less attention.
  • UPS, DHL, and FedEX all do a TON of drop shipping business with USPS. All three companies make a drop off at our PO every day. All the major shippers are now in bed with the postal service!

  • Unrelated, but in the news yesterday, there was a postal worker here in NC that hoarded over 100,000 pieces of mail image
