Upside down label Code Name: Viper

By the look of the label coming up in the top left corner, its more than likely a case of someone taking off the label and reapplying it, but I figured some crazy variant collector may want to take a stab at it for such a cheap BIN.

  • Cool man, thanks! I am going to see what is up with it. I remember seeing a Life Force like this a year or so ago, but it had a $100 BIN or something crazy like that. image
  • I'm glad you grabbed it Dan, let us know what you think when you get it in hand!
  • I think it is a re-apply but for the price I would have bought it as well.

  • Here is a photo of that Life Force I was talking about:

  • i'd say these are probably legit. i had a yoshi like this. do you know how hard it is to completely remove a label and re-apply it without screwing anything up. next to impossible. It's always nice to find oddities like this... and why would someone go to the trouble to put that on upside down to sell it for only a 1.99?

  • I now have that Yoshi Josh image I kicked myself for years not buying that one from you from forever ago. I finally snagged it from Michiganfan a few weeks back. Some of these are legit, and some are fake. Some people just do stuff to screw around. Logic doesn't always come into play I guess, lol.

  • That's a weird variant. One would think that at least 100s of carts would have to be affected, because the labels would have come off giant rolls. Yoshi is legit if multiple copies have surfaced.
  • Just got it in the mail today! I am going to confirm that is indeed real, as there is absolutely no signs that the label was altered or tampered with. Should we start a new variant list? image Here are some detailed photos:

  • Let the speculation begin!
  • Based on those pics, I'd have to absolutely agree that this one looks legit. I almost wish I picked this one up myself now Dan. Now thats 2 favors you owe me haha. All kidding aside, definitely a cool pick up for a great price.
  • That actually looks a hell of a lot nicer than it did in the listing. The listing made it look like a corner was bubbling and peeling. Grats on that find!
  • Strange! Never seen anything like that before.
  • Very cool. Stuff like this is interesting to me, even though it isn't really worth anymore money or anything...just history of production errors most likely.

  • that defiantely looks legit to me...

Dang man.  I almost wanted to buy it back from him and i was waiting for it to come up in his ebay auctions.

Also, just so you know it was not pieced together... it came complete in box when i found it in Eugene OR.  I am glad it is in a good collection where it gets the appropriate attention image

  • add that Code Name Viper to the list with Yoshi!

nice snag and it looks perfectly legit!
