Title explains it. An award for those who have stood out and help others in ways above and beyond. My other forum, MMB does it, but it is also considerably smaller, and may not work for a 10000+ member forum as well.

    i think stuff like that just alienates people and makes people feel bad they didnt "win". People are already recognized in threads every day for awesome stuff people do. Just my opinion.

    I dont know man. I would hate for the wonderful people on this site to get jealous of me every month. To make it fair maybe only allow a past winner to win it once every few months.

    I don't see member of the month as a problem, there was already member spotlight in the ezine. There's nothing to "win" so there shouldn't be any jealousy.

    cool idea, and let's finally be honest about the "number" of members, there are probably less than 500 "active" members on here that contribute frequently

    ok I stand corrected as of July 8th, 2012 there have been 2441 members log in!!! Wow!!! Even almost 900 members today!!! that's great!



    buuuut there are also over 700 members that made an account and never came back! Delete those lazy bastards haha!

    The eZine's member spotlight isn't to be confused with a member of the month. It is chosen somewhat arbitrarily and doesn't reflect that person's contributions, etc. that month, necessarily.

    Gotta figure out what "frequently" is, but 3795 different members visited in the last 90 days, and from those members 1859 have more than 2 posts in that time.

    Oh well... maybe its back on. I would personnally take it upon myself to look into nominations, spend some time a week every month. BUT... this would need either a sticky or section for people to submit their nominations, a set of guidelines, which i can write then run it by an admin, and things like that. Also, on MadeByBacteria (my modding forum, see my worklogs!) there is a special icon for the member. but we dont need the SAME ICON. maybe a badge saying Member of the month to appear on their account permenantly and a temp icon to show up while they are the MotM? Whaddaya guys think?

    And if anyone really cares about these odd numbers, here are the same stats for the last 90 days (2+ posts, May 7th - Aug 7th) since we opened:



    2012 = 1,859

    2011 = 1,268

    2010 = 930

    2009 = 531

    2008 = 369

    2007 = 136



    To think this is probably the slowest time of the year as well, since people are outside more an not on NA as much.

    EDIT: I need preferably a sticky in either Everything Else or NA News, either a temp badge for the winner that goes away when another is elected, or a permenant badge to show that they won at one time, or both. Thats about it... It would also be nice to have a way to keep track of the nominations instead of being bombarded by PMs

    how would it be a big job you pick a person once a month lol. You want a big job look at the ezine i havnt contributed but it always looks as though they put a fuck ton of work into that zamboni!

    I think the member spotlight in the e-zine already kind of full fills this request. Is there really a need to duplicate this in the forums too? Yeah, e-zine is every couple of months so less members get picked, but past e-zines have had multiple member spotlight articles.

    To start out and test the waters, why not create an "official" thread. Then people can simply post their choices in it. When you decide who the winner is, put the winner in a list in your original post. That would at least gauge interest.

    That was my thought on this as well. Nothing really against the idea, but it would be a bit redundant with the member spotlight already in place.
