I haven't been out lately as I have had to work on my usual game hunting days so this post is from my finds for the last couple of weeks.
I paid a total of twenty-five cents for these guidebooks at a yardsale.
These guide books were all found at Goodwill and cost me about $10.
More from Goodwill. N64 Controllers were $4 each, SNES controller was $2, and the SNES mouse was $3.
A place I frequent had these set aside for me. $5 per game. It's nice because they set aside all their video game stuff for me so I can have the first look at them. Not pictured, I also bought NBA Jam (SNES), and Gilligan's Island from them and got a free N64 wrestling game that was in a very sad condition.
My best find and at Goodwill too. $2 for the Little Mermaid, $3 for the SNES games, and $4 for the N64 games. Loved finding these buried behind the electronics (I am pretty sure there is a collector that works there and hides a couple things). I ended up passing on an original gameboy, some DK bongos, and some NES controllers but I wasn't going to spend much more than I did.
Also bought from other places were some DK Bongos, a PS1 mini, a Mortal Kombat X-box game, and a small stack of common NES games.
I had the day to myself for the first time in a very long time so I hit up my north Snohomish county route.
I picked up four consoles over the last few days. Only these two are pictured but I also picked up another N64 (which was bundled with a memory card, all cords, and two controllers for $12.99) and another PS2. Also got a third party Dreamcast controller and a silver PS2 controller (I found the silver console but it was $30.) $12.99 for the SNES with cords.
Yet more guides! Chrono Cross and Ninja Gaiden 2 cost me $15 at a yardsale but I really liked the Chrono Cross guide. All the others were less than $1 each.
$3 for Halo 2, $0.50 cents for the Pokemon book, and I got the Pokemon Blue box/papers packaged with the below manuals for $10 at the same garage sale I got the Chrono Cross guide. Also $1 for the Megaman battle chips.
A couple SNES manuals. The Contra Force is in great condition.
I got around today but did not end up spending much. I passed on a Dreamcast (no cords or controllers) for $10, An Acclaim SNES wireless controllers/receiver set for $8, a couple gray N64 controllers, and the garage sale I found the manuals and guides at had lots of great stuff but I was too low on cash at the time (and it was being hit up by other video game hunters too).
Greetings NA friends! I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted but my job has gotten in the way of my hunts lately and I kept delaying to post these because one of my hook-ups has a box of Nintendo games for me to look at but they keep forgetting to bring it in to their shop (I should be able to finally get a look at them sometime next week). Anyway these are what I found over the last few weeks.
More guides! Guides are getting easier and easier to find now that I know what to look for. Most of what I find are stuffed with the kids books at various shops. Paid $1 for FF X-2 and $2 for Wild Arms.
The GBA games were a great find. Paid $28 total for six GBA games and a 2007 Pokedex. The games are Banjo Pilot, Jurrassic Park 3: Park Builder, Spyro: Season of Ice, and Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. These were found at a thrift store.
The GBA Color was $7 and came with Tetris at the Boom City Swap Meet.
I was on my way home from the swap meet, having found very little game wise, when I hit up a couple garage sales near my home. Paid $1.50 for Ninja Gaiden 2 at one of them. The other I spent $25 on a gamecube with two controllers, all cords, thirteen games (two of which came with cases), a gamecube disc holder, a copy of Doom for the SNES with box and manual, and finally a copy Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for the N64. The notable games are Time Splitters, Wolverine's Revenger, Mario Sunshine, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and Mario Strikers.
The Pokemon Colluseum bonus disc and Orphen were seperate buys. Orphen came from a pawn shop for $3. And the Pokemon Colluseum bonus disc was inside another gamecube I bought at the swap meet for $5. I need to stop buying Gamecubes because I now have 7-8 sitting around but I keep finding great deals on them.
Here is that Doom I mentioned above but the really cool stuff here are the sealed Kirby's Avalanche and Dragonball GT Final Bout. I paid $30 for the sealed Kirby and it's in good shape. The Dragonball GT game I bought for $6 and has a chunk of seal missing on the front right side. It always feels nice to find old sealed games.
A quater for the PS case. $4 for the NFL Blitz with Memory card in a clean clamshell. Both were bought at the swap meet.
Virtual Chess and Forsaken 64 were $3 each at a pawn shop.
That's the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and Gamecube disc holder I mentioned earlier.
The two Gamecubes I bought. The cordless and controller-less Dreamcast was $5 and the NES Advantage was $5.
Here is some random stuff. The Pokedex was $2, the Pokemon videos were free, the Warcraft Raid deck was $5, the Babe Ruth Starting Line-Up was $4, and the Transformer was $2.
Not video game related but I picked these up while I was game hunting. Paid $20 for all those cards and there some great ones in there. Notably a 1954 Otto Graham and a 1986-1987 Fleer Larry Bird. Also found the fine people of Value Village slipping in their painting/framed picture section when I picked up an oversized and autographed Carlton Fisk card for $4.
I'll post again as soon as I get my hands on those Nintendo games that are being set aside for me.
I had a great day today hitting up a couple places in Snohomish County.
I picked up the GBA games for $5 apiece at Cash America Pawn. I know this chain of pawn shops is all over my area and are easy to skip over since most of the games suck and are over priced but I very often find great stuff here. Summon Night in particular is a $15-20 game.
Tetris Blast is trashed and may not ever work but it was free from a shop owner I buy from often.
This is what made my day. I spent $54.47 on the following 17 SNES games. Each was priced $2.95. Most of these are in great condition aside from some marker and rental stickers on the back.
Mario's Early Years Fun with Letters
Yoshi's Island
Super Street Fighter 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Super Metroid
Earthworm Jim
Super Punch Out
Mega Man X
Mega Man X3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kirby's Dream Land 3 (two copies)
Kirby Super Star
StarFox
Tetris and Dr. Mario
Zelda: Link to the Past
Super Mario RPG
BattleToads in Battlemaniacs
I left behind some games, nothing great, but I'll likely go back for many of them when they have a sale on red tags ($1.50 per when it does). I'll likely sell many of these.
I also picked up some MTG cards and a Deadpool TPB today. I am kinda upset I passed on a set of Hulk hands for my kids.
Since I have gotten a few messages about the SNES games- I am keeping Donkey Kong Country 3, one copy of Kirby's Dream Land 3, and Kirby Super Star. I am torn on the Mega Mans but if the offer is good enough then I'll likely fold. Everything else I already have a copy of or don't care to much about to keep.
Went back to where I found the previous SNES games and red tags were 25% off so I picked up four more for $9.60. Yoshi's Safari, Yoshi's Cookie, Itchy and Scratchy the game, and Goof Troop. These are all in nice condition too.
I also picked up 39 of these Mario Kart Klik Candy Dispensers for $5. I am a manager at a grocery store and we just reset our candy aisle so we had no room for these. My variety manager marked them down for me since she knew I collected video stuff. I shared 6 with my kids and other family members so I now have 33 left.
I've had a very busy weekend helping a pal move, attending a summerween party, and playing in an MTG booster draft tournament but I found time to hit up a couple shops and yard sales.
Bought the Gameboys for $4 and $7 at different Value Villages. Both work and have good screens. The N64 jumper pak was $2 at a pawn shop. Found lots of cheap Pokemon stuff at a yard sale. Paid $1 for a bunch of toys, a Pokewalker, one of those gold burger king cards with Jigglypuff on it, and this bag. My girls got everything but the bag.
Paid $7 and $5 for the Resident Evil game at a pawn shop. RE2 is complete and was very much needed for my collection. The gamecube one is missing the 2nd disc but is otherwise complete. Donkey Kong Country was $0.50 cents at a garage sale (this garage sale yielded another great find later in this post). All the NES games were $5 each at another garage sale I stopped by while helping my pal move (this garage sale also provided another great find later in the post).
$5 for Godzilla 2 and $0.50 for Demon's Crest. Yup. I am on a roll with the SNES finds lately. Demon's Crest is in great condition other than some gunk on the lower label. Godzilla 2 was a nice suprise because as I was browsing through their NES games they mentioned they had some rare ones like Contra and over a stack from a box in the garage. Most were not for sale but I asked about Godzilla, Clash at Demonhead, and Uninvited. They only refused to sell Uninvited.
Just a few quick finds from the last two weeks. Nothing too cool or crazy today.
Some cheap guides I picked up. Also the VHS I needed to complete my boxed copy of 7th Guest. Plus a Duck Tales Sticker book I found for a quarter because why the hell not.
This was a nice Sega find. Only $10 for everything here and most of the games are CIB. I almost didn't get this one because I found this advertised in a garage sale on Craigslist and by the time I saw the ad it was 10am already. I ate my crunch berries and hustled out to the sale which was 7 minutes away only to find some teenage going through all these. I waited patiently as he told his mom that he was looking for a diamond in the rough. Thankfully his mom told him she was leaving and he had no choice to but to go. As soon as they were in the car I walked over handed the seller $10 and walked past the teen in the car. This included the cords but no controllers.
Even more consoles were found as I ventured out. Spent $12 total on all of these. I did not even know that the PS2 was made in white.
Another $14 spent on the SNES games and the NES game (included two GBA manuals that are not pictured). Paid $5 for Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones in great condition at one of those big chain pawn shops.
Howdy NA friends. Went out for a few hours on Saturday. Found some decent items at the thrift stores, a swap meet, and a pawn shop.
The items in total.
Paid $6 total for both of the Commodore Vic 20 games and Cloudburst appears to be a rare title. Minish Cap was $5 and Ninja Turtles was $1. The Gamecube games are Paper Mario and Twilight Princess. Paper Mario came with Mario Kart Double Dash which I paid $10 for and Twilight Princess was included with the $10 Gamecube. I am currently sitting on at least 7 working gamecubes....they seem to be very common and cheap where I live.
Bad picture but I paid a total of $40 for all these games. Not a steal but certainly under Ebay. Persona 3 FES has found a place in my personal collection and the Mario Galaxy coin may end up there too. Dora was for my daugher.
Bought a sealed memory card for $2, both Tiger Handhelds were $3 each, Yahtzee was $1.30, and the cord was $1.50.
All in all it wasn't a bad day and I was able to add to my collection. Also bought was a nice stack of 8 mangas for $1.47. I passed on a couple decent Gamecube games but I plan on going back later in the week and snatching them up.
Spent a decent amount of time checking out many garage sales and stores. I was about ready to call my weekend a bust despite finding some decent things. My wife and I checked out a couple more garage sales on our way to the store. I was blown away by what I walked out of there with.
That garage sale had a boxed and nearly complete 3-DO with 8 games. The box is missing all papers but has intact styrofoam. The games that came with it are:
Twisted (CIB), Way of the Warrior, Alone in the Dark, Return Fire (CIB), Samurai Showdown, Street Fighter 2 Turbo (CIB), Off-world Interceptor, and Pebble Beach Golf Links (CIB). $15 for all of this and it's a very clean and great working console.
The other $15 I spent there got me this. A playstation, all cords, two controllers, two demo discs, and four CIB games. I love the Doom longbox and I needed the Resident Evil: Directors Cut for my Resident Evil collection.
This is the rest of the stuff I picked over the weekend. Nothing too special but I did get a good deal on the SP (came with the case, charger, and two games). Pokemon Colosseum was $5 and Godzilla was $2. GB color is missing the battery cover but it was $4.
I paid $4 per guidebook. I love the Zelda collectors edition guide. Very shiny.
I also picked up some really cheap manga, a couple action figures and lego mini-figs. One other thing of note is that I stopped by the garage sale of a guy that deals in pinball and aracde machines. His garage was full of them and I got his card/info for future use.
