Okay, now here's the fun part...the last two times I've bought this sign it has arrived to me broken. Does anyone have a speel that I can give to the seller to try and up the chances this will not arrive to me in pieces? Tips/ tricks of how to safely package it and whatnot? The last person I bought one from had the item professionally packaged by a company and even then when it arrived the neon was shattered to shit.
that had been up since late last night. Ah well, the magic of posting anything cool on NA to get it sold
That's what I get for rarely checking ebay anymore
I have had 8 chances to have this sign and still don't have the damn thing...it has been #1 on my want list for quite some time and still will be until it has arrived safely in my hands. :-/

I can tell you how mine arrived, and I was suprised at how it was packaged. The guy put the sign in a severely oversized box, laying flat (neon side up), completely filled with peanuts. The sign was centered in the box both vertically and horizontally, with peanuts filling in the space. It actually allowed the sign to move around *quite* a bit, and I think that's the reason it arrived undamaged. There was absolute NO wrapping around the frame of the sign -- just peanuts. He also took small strips of bubble wrap and placed them around random sections of the toobing. They were on tightly, so I'm assuming that helped against vibration caused be transit. This guy really knew what he was doing, and the only reason I remeber the detail was because I was shocked at how liberally it was packaged (which, after thinking about it, was likely the reason it arrived safely).
For anyone thinking about this sign, I figured I'd post to let you know that it's a 3rd-party sign, not one by Nintendo. A guy near me on Craigslist had one and I stopped by to look at it. It's absolute junk, IMO.

I waws just about to message the seller asking him if it was offiicial Nintendo or not.
Another way that might limit the wear and tear on the box for you limbo is to have the sign sent either Express Overnight or Registered Mail. Both services cost a great deal more, but they are handled by a whole LOT less people. Usually the people who do handle them are more responsible cause they have been with the PO longer. Express would cost well over 100, but having it sent as Registered shouldn't cost more than 15 over actual shipping cost roughly. Obviously get insurance though
I had a neon sign shipped here and it arrived in perfect shape. The seller built a very sturdy wooden box for it (it looked like a small coffin, actually). He taped bubble wrap and those air cushion things to the neon parts, put pillows all around the sides and top and filled in the rest of the space with packing peanuts. It cost over $100 to get it shipped, but it didn't break.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that is a real official Nintendo sign. I have one hanging in my gameroom and mine has an official Nintendo part sticker on the back. Maybe there is a different one that is 3rd party?
Anyone interested should ask the seller if there is a Nintendo sticker on the back of it.
Actually Limbo....it's only 2.5 hours away from us....might be easier to just drive and pick up.
I saw that right after I posted here last night, and also noticed that Foxwoods is about an hour away from that location, so that's likely the route I will go.
