sara, you too seem to be missing the point of what i was trying to say.
People hear about things all the time and send people an email to enquire. Some emails are very blunt and simply say "I heard you have this game, i will pay $XXX"
i am obviously not referring to you or dream. If i was, i would have said people fom NA were interested but i told them they were not for sale.
Sara, also, i had a feeling most people weren't sure mine was legit, that is more of the answer i was thinking of, not the "i didn't want to step on Bronty's toes angle" because that is implied in our community.
Bronty knew about the game before anyone. He came to my house just days after i got them and schooled me on everything. He explained more than i could have asked and inturn told him he had dibs on anything he wanted.
nes4ever - Read this and you will know what i mean. Just like sara now understands my point.
no, i had a heart attack before Bronty came over. I had another heart attack when he told me what he wanted and what they were worth.
So let's recap. I am 25 and I have had 2 heart attacks I am aware of ;-)
god damn, maximus! you are only 25? do you have your own house or is that the basement of your parents house in those pictures of your collection? i am 25 too, and not only do i not have the amount of games you do (although i have more cib games i think), i dont have a place that even closely resembles the awesomeness of that room. and with this bullshit economy, i will probably only get a shitty 8% raise this year, so i wont reach 6 figs for another few years... looks like it will be a while before i can get my own house and put a kick ass game room in it like yours!
Six figures is ok and more than I pull, but no one gets rich off of a salary. Keep that in mind as you advance in your career.
in my career, you do get rich directly from the salary! and i do quite alright in the market as well, but dont tell my company that, i am supposed to be working all day instead of day trading!
afaik it's rare in any form sealed, this was a rental-only title and as such we assume that most copies were ordered by Blockbusters and such with the express intent to crack open and rent. There'd have to be a serious string of events for a rental-only to make its way back to the aftermarket NISB.
I've read your post about five times now, maximus and I still don't understand what your point is.
His point is why is FFG such a big deal all of a sudden. If it is THAT big of a deal why didn't they make it such a big deal of it when he found his. I say in part because they didn't know what to make of it. Well now they do and after this auction is over we may just have the new SNES holy grail.
That is just the way this hobby is. You get something you think is the shit but the other people don't seem to care so much. Then all of a sudden its a big deal and all it takes is a few posts and little bit of hype to change things. Some collectors only want what others want.
As for building wealth, I'd say concentrating on putting together income producing assets and reducing your liabilities will get you far closer to your goals than concentrating on a greater salary.

The blockbuster version has a different box.
This is the box this game would have been released with had Blockbuster not made it a rental exclusive. It is very possible only a few exist in any form sealed or not.

I think people don't walk to make crazy posts about it being a big deal. I knew it was something no one had seen before, but think of it this way, a lot of SNES people STIL ldon't believe ISS, Super Copa, or ISSD CIB are a big deal. It's taken YEARS to get people to understand that these are bonafide releases. Never seen such a struggle before.

Yeah you have been trying to hype these for some time. I just don't see it.
There are a few very rare Atari 2600 releases that are NTSC North American releases that still get no respect. Why?
Because they were released almost exclusively in Canada. People choose what they want to collect and many concentrate on the games that were sold in the region they live in. With Super Copa and ISSD being mostly south of the USA boarder releases I'm not doing back flips over them either. I don't think they will ever get the respect you think they deserve. Expensive and rare yes but I think they will always be somewhat ignored by a fraction of the collecting population.
Even though the FFG variant was found in Canada it is not a Candian release. It was never released ANYWHERE. If that box had been released it would have been released as is in the USA and Canada. So there is a big difference to collectors who concentrate on the USA releases.
They were first produced for the retail market but then blockbuster bought the rights to make it a rental exclusive and create their own Japanese/US orange box and the black ones remained undistributed thus the black label on the FFG cartridge.

This is how i feel as well. I sold the ISS, ISSD and Super Copa i had sealed for this reason. Meant nothing to me and I only want certain sealed games anyway, not a complete NTSC set like others.
Nintendo didn't include them on there NTSC list either, but that doesn't really mean anything cause they seem to miss a bunch of games on all their lists.
For being NTSC games, why are ISS, ISSD and Copa all in spanish only on the box? *edit
If i remember correctly, they even say on the back for distribution in Mexico, not Mexico/USA/Canada like the rest of the NTSC games.
If you put it all together, it easy to see why some people would just say screw it, I don;t count them.
Buyatari: True but I think Jason is just trying to draw the line between people who consistantly bring this shit up. All 3 have official boxes, manuals and NTSC carts with legitamate labels.
On a side note, I got my Super Copa from ebay from someone who bought it from a renatl store in Vermont or Massachusettes, I forget which.
It might have been a chain with a headquarters in CA and all the stores got the same games.
Those people always bring it up because they don't want it included with the USA released NTSC carts. You can dispute the reasoning behind it but you can't dispute that some people feel this way. If they don't want it they don't want it. You can include these titles in the SNES game lists but it should be noted that these titles are for the most part south of the boarder releases for those that care.

Yes I agree. Im only disputing between the Playtronic-Konami release arguement. Not all people feel the same way about including these as US titles and that is respectable but there IS a difference between Playtronic and Konami releases. That was my arguement in the first place. And yes, ISS and ISSD are both on the official list and are needed for a truly complete set.
A "truly complete set" is what each collector sets and no one else.
He might collect all the SNES RPG titles or even the games that begin with 'A' and justify that he has a truly complete set. Now if he only wants the USA releases then I say he doesn't have to include any games with text in Spanish if he doesn't want to and it doesn't matter whoelse lists the games where.
ISS and ISSDeluxe are not in SPanish on the box. Has ESRB rating, which is a big factor.
About the part number, I have seen ISSDeluxe with and WITHOUT the M/SNES Part number. I have seen it with a J instead.
All of them were released in Central America, but a lot of South of the border states had them.
Nintendo Power had articles on ISS as well, so there really is no question about these games. Anything with an ESRB rating, manual, and box is it. The value has and will go up on them. Super Copa sealed offers of $2000? Sheesh. Keep in mind what a boxed one will go for when it appears. Same as a boxed ISS original.
OCDSteeldor: was that Super COpa from the eBay guy in near Edmonton? He is the only one I have ever seen with one.

I am not sure the exact location, just that it came from Canada. I only remember that because I was super excited to get it, but it ended up taking longer than usual. It was in a mixed lot of loose games and a complete SNES system. I am sure the guy selling had no idea what he was selling as the entire lot ended around $70 shipped and he made no special mention of the Super Copa CIB

Most logical explanation to the Black Box FFG:
They were first produced for the retail market but then blockbuster bought the rights to make it a rental exclusive and create their own Japanese/US orange box and the black ones remained undistributed thus the black label on the FFG cartridge.
I believe this to be the scenario too.
