  • Thats alot of money for those NES lots. Unfortunately i dont have too much knowledge about how much these sealed NES games are worth so can anyone tell me how these NES auction went? I mean, were the prices high, low or average?
  • beyond high
  • Lot 1 went slightly low, the other 3 lots went very high.
  • less than an hour till the fireworks start up again.

    **readies popcorn and beer***
  • udisi, u said it. crack the beers!
  • Sitting here waiting as well...
  • I should have already left work, but I'm staying to watch this.

Very high? You were runner up on at least 2 of those, so were you planning to overpay just to secure the few games in the lot that you needed?
  • Yes. I was willing to overpay for lot 2. I will overpay if need be on items I need, as I think most people will.

That is why it is so amazing given what they went for.

Also, you have to factor in these were groups of people. This was not just me, but other people in on our group.

We were willing to overpay for lots 2 and 3.

Also, I spoke to Jared and apparently his snipe did not even get placed on auction 3 so i was incorrect. We were NOT runner ups there (and our bid was hundreds of dollars below what it went for). I did not even know that until a few minutes ago.
  • Diana got the Final Fight Guy. $6300+

    I almost had 'em both.

  • Some drama on the FFG. However, not as much as I thought it could potentialy boil up to.
  • On a 4 hour break again. N64 lot should be fun to watch
  • Yeah, the final fight guy auction did not even reach the highest total of all the auctions. that is slightly surprising.

still, all that for what is essentially a variant is quite a bit of money.
  • Really, what else in the FFG lot was that good. I think it's still pretty high price considering the rest of the lot.

essentially a variant?  please explain. Being an owner of one of these I would like to know what you mean.

  • Wasabisabi again! Who is that? Collectors king again on the other these people must be loaded.
  • Well, we assume the manual and cart are the same, hence how the box is the only difference.

It is more or less a variant of the box. It isn't any different gamewise or anything like that (we assume, we can't say this for certain). I am not sure what else you call it if not a variant.

That is not knocking it. it is the same game with a different box, hence a variant. Not sure what else to call it.

Wasabisabi is Pooch from our forums and the same person as Happycstar.
  • She must be a millionaire seeing how much she is paying for these lots, it makes it hard for those of us with out silver spoons to even touch these lots!
  • If it is the same person, who knows what'll happen since the Game Boy lots fell through...
  • Exactly, just watch all these lots be relisted after all this hype... really sucks for the seller. Good for people still holding out hope of getting them though.
  • THIS IS JUST SPECULATION, NOT FACT.

After reading some of Sara's posts regarding pooch/happycstar/wasabisi or whatever, and my direct knowledge, i have a funny feeling this might have happened:

I think she bit off more than she can chew. That is why all those other lots got relisted before the FFG.

She would not have been able to pay for them all at once in one shot, so some bogus 'hacking' excuse was made under her one username and ebay pulled all bids she made under happycstar.

Then under a different name she went hard for the lots she really wanted after not being obligated to pay for the others.

This is what kinda looks like to me.

  • regarding Sara's variant comment for FFG.

How could it be the variant if it was most likely produced ahead of the Blockbuster exclusive's?

Wouln't the blockbuster boxes be the variant? After all, the boxes of games in this warehouse have been there since the games were first run for Nintendo for (marketing purposes?) etc.

Just not sure how the Blockbuster US rental release can be deemed the 'original' when blockbuster obviously had to buy the rights then alter the box for their purposes after the fact.

just my 2 cents. I wouldn't mind knowing what others think.

  • That is a good theory. The only problem with it is that she ended up paying more for these lots than the previous ones (I think?). The whole thing is bizarre. I wish pooch would come and post on here and explain the situation!
  • Thanks to everyone at nintendoage for the chance to discuss these auctions here on your forums. I've learned an enormous amount about your passion for collecting games over the last week.

If 'wasabisabi' does not come through with payment on these items, I will offer them to second chance buyers instead of relisting- The relisting of the first auctions by 'happycstar' were done quickly this morning and in afterthought, I really should have just used the 2nd chance as we're moving at the end of next week.

Thanks again, I'll update you with our donation totals to the United Way, but if everything ends up as is and no sales fall through, we'll be well above $50K! Everyone here at the office, is just in awe.

some of the employees have to be thinking... '$50K all this time, a free lottery sitting just steps from all of us'

  • That is a good point that the blockbuster version would then be the variant. One is a variant of the other, that much is probable.

Has to be the neatest variant ever and one sealed game I would love to see opened image
  • well, they would both be variants really. Eitherway, the black box to our knowledge is undistributed, so I would still consider the Blockbuster one the main release.
