Interested parties that just stop replying to pm's?
Hello all,
As you may know, I have a couple goods for sale here at Nintendo Age. I don't sell anywhere else currently as I have fallen back into the Nintendo era and want to dish out any extra games or gaming goodness that I may have in my possesion to those gamers int he Nintendo community that may want them.
Backstory>>> I make a sales thread here and post all goods for sale. Then I receive offers or pms from interested parties. I keep lists of eacha nd every pm as to make sure I do not miss anyone in the doing so. I put numbers next to interested parties information as to what order their pm interest was received. Then I wait.
Sometimes its open and shut and thats AWESOME, but alot of the times...I get members that appear to me as if they are newer to the forum, with less than 25 feedback and they might not be grabbing on an item.....so Id ecide to move on to the next in line...then bam out of the blue that one person I thought was interested so I sent them information for payment and they just drag their balls on it.......comes through with a payment and I am surprised as I already moved onto the next in line.
As a successful seller here at NA or a newb, what do you do that prevents such things from happening? I personally have had this happen to me three times and each time, I feel like Ive got this down.....but Obviously, I do not!
So any ways that you ahve perfected in this selling thread thing would be awesome.
Why am I making this thread? Well, first off.....I have had to apologize to at least three people for not being able to conclude with a sale.....I apologize to the community for this, but my number system doesnt seem to be working.
If you say you are gonna buy something and then you get my payment information, Im not sure what an acceptable time frame would be before you can conclude the sale isnt gonna happen?
For my own buying here or on any other forum, if I want to buy your wares.......you send me the total and your pmt information...I make the payment......end of story...deal is done, but I find there are those people that are out there that do not see it this way?
Is it reasonable to put in bold letters at the top of my sales thread.....once paypal info has been given, immediate payment is expected??? I dont wanna sound like a hard ass.....if you wanna buy something from me and need to wait or want me to hold it, I would be glad to do that......just let me know?

I don't think you should leave them in the unknown though, even if they're not replying. When you plan on going with another buyer, just send them a PM stating so.
its not a deal until a transaction is made...
^^^^This.
this can be closed
thanks all!

I think sometimes people read a sale thread late at night and then send a pm on a game. They go to bed, go to work the next morning, work all day and don't check NA till late night again. So there is a big communication delay sometimes. Now me personally I would check NA again in the morning before I head out to work but I'm assuming not everyone does.
ditto, if im int eh iddle of a potential deal Im sure to check back multiple times within the next day to hash out details. If someone messages you and then doesnt log for 3 days, his windows is gone and you gotta move on.
Thank you all that have replied.....
Then I generally give the first dibbs time to work out a deal, and if even slightly delayed (2 hours or so), I will set a deadline with that person to make a decision and leave the ball in their court (24 hours from that point). I also update the 2nd or 3rd dibbs person to keep them up to date with the situation.
Rarely I've had to drop down to the next dibbs party when setting a deadline (without getting a response). I feel the most important part of this hobby from a selling point of view is communication, communication, communication .
Best of luck with your sales!

My problem is I never have enough stuff to go around. I usually get peeps to accept a transaction. The threat of neg feedback is eminent if you agree to a transaction and don't follow through
I will give you 10.00 for that untested coleco atari expantion!
On another note, I see this quite a bit here. I am pretty sure it is the normal heat of the moment gotta have it now impulse and once the trigger is about to be pulled the feet get cold and instead of a simple "hey I am going to pass" PM but some think its ok to let someone hang in hopes of a price drop or they found it cheaper elsewere.
Thanks again for all the advice guys!
