How about a Want to Borrow thread?

Just an idea, maybe make a section where people are willing to let you borrow games for a few weeks so you can try them out and see if you like them.  Just have to end up paying shipping costs.  That way you dont have to waste a bunch of money if the games end up sucking.  Only allow it for people who have like 10 or more feedback.  Thoughts?

  • Kinda cool, but I can already see the hall of shame quadrupling in size from the low life's out there taking advantage of this pretty trusting community.
  • It would be cool to host an event, just to come and "try and play" games before you decide to buy them. There is a retro store near me that lets you try out games and/or systems before you buy it.
  • This is what emulators and reviews are for. I agree with Max.
  • A lot of people dont handle my games the way I would want them handled. I would hate to have to flip out on someone who nicked a label or something stupid. People may also blame other people for marks and nicks that were previously there.

Maybe it would work. It just isnt for me.
  • It's a nice idea in theory, but there are too many variables here. Assuming both parties in the trade are honest people and not out to swindle each other, what if someone gets lazy and fails to return the game, loses it, damages it, etc.? In my opinion, it would have to be a cheap game, one that has a torn label or something, that you could afford to lose if things go sour, and even then, it doesn't seem worth the hassle.
  • It`s a pretty cool idea but only in theory i think.
  • Can I borrow someone's Stadium Events? I want to make sure my Power Pad is working.
  • Yeah, I'd rather have stores that let you do this (and we have one!) than having it on the forums. The HoS would be massive if it was the latter.
  • yeah I definitely wouldn't be willing to send anything worth while to someone to try before they buy

i personally don't play my collection, i just use emulators or everdrive type carts

Edit: moral of the story, you can test whatever game you want for free without owning the game. or for 100 bucks to play it on a console, can always get a usb controller if you dont like using a keyboard for emulators. Only game i can't play on an emulator is radical dreamers, but that never had a cart in the first place and will probably buy a repro at some point
