Famicom Disk System Battery Error #2

Hi there,

I've seen a bunch of threads on this in searching, but no solutions. I'm using an AC adapter instead of batteries. Before I replaced the belt on this model the unit never gave this error. The adapter works for sure, I've used it on other systems. Short of buying 6 batteries I'll never use for anything again to test it, I don't know what else to do. I've tried all four disks I have and that hasn't made a difference either. I don't see any noticeable damage on the board the AC connects to. Any ideas?

  • I'd check to make sure the power jack doesn't have a cold solder joint, or make sure there's nothing wrong with your belt you used?

  • The belt is new, I just got it a few days ago from Tototek. I opened it up again and made sure every cable was connected well to the drive as well as the power board. This seemed to make error 2 go away, but now it goes right into 'now loading' even when there's no disk in the drive. There isn't any spinning I can see or drive noise I can hear, so I don't know what's wrong now. Before the belt was replaced the drive definitely spun up.
  • So, as soon as you turn on the Famicom, you get the Now Loading screen? As if it thinks there is a disk inserted, even when there isn't? It should then give you an Error 22 or similar after a fashion, right? Check the switch on the right hand side of the drive. If you removed the disk holder and got it back on wrong, maybe you got the switch bent or stuck down.
