Mario Paint Factory Seal Type

I found a brand new copy of Mario Paint on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNES-Mario-Paint-Factory-Sealed-Brand-New-Original-Version-Mint-Condition-/221161075455?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item337e3a32ff).  It looks like it's factory sealed but it doesn't have a horizontal or vertical seam down the back of the box.  I asked the seller about it & was told "No, the big box games never did...they only have/had factory ventholes".

Is he telling me the truth?

  • Hmm,that sounds kindya fishy .I don't know how true that statement is.

Exactly I had one of these sets ,when Snes first came out and it wasn't sealed. As matter of fact I still have my original Mario paint game cart, with my name written in big bold print!
  • I am pretty sure all big box SNES games weren't sealed

I'm sorry James, but Mario Paint DID INDEED come sealed. I have had around a dozen, all sealed the exact same way as the legit sealed game the OP posted. The ebay seller is also a member here with a flawless reputation.

In fact, Mario Paint, Lethal Enforcers and Super Bomberman Party-Pak all came factory sealed.

I put my own reputation on that.

good enough for me boss.  I know Lethal Enforcers was because I bought it new as a kid but it wasnt packaged quoite the same was as the Nintendo 1st party ones.  When i worked at EBGames way back when we had a left over Mario Paint that was clearence from the previous store managers reign.  It was an original not player's choice, and it wasn't sealed with plastic.  Thats what I was basing my knoweledge on as I couldnt find any reference completed copies the last few months that had a seal either.

Mine didn't come sealed ,and I got mine brand new the year and month it came out.

  • The only big box I bought when I was a kid was Earthbound and I'm pretty sure it wasn't sealed. I'd take MoeDown's word over most the other people here tho. Interesting...

That's cool bro! But I had this set from day one and I still have my original cart! Maybe it was sealed at some stores but mine was bought brand new and it was not sealed ,
  • I am not saying that Mario Paint wasn't sold both ways (sealed and not sealed), that may very well be the case. I have certainly seen stranger things. Considering the fact it went to Million Seller status though, I think it's safe to say it saw multiple releases and the difference would most likely be the result of that.

I am saying that at one point it definately did come sealed. And that goes for both versions (standard and Player's Choice) as, like I mentioned earlier, I have owned a fair number of them over the years. All from multiple sources and all identical. They pop up on eBay 2 or 3 times a year if not more.

None of the three (Paint, Lethal Enforcers, B-Man Party-Pak) have H-seams.

I believe bro you ! I'm not the arguing type,I agree with you .I've seen many different video games sell in many different ways. Some department stores have different packages for various games and systems, that are exclusive to that store.
