Shipping error etiquette?

So a few weeks ago I sent a package out to another user, two weeks go by and I'm asked if I shipped, I dig out the tracking number to see that the item just made it to the right state and was only a few towns from the buyer. I send him this info and think nothing more of it. Today the package arrives at my po box with a stamp on it saying the recipient's mail forwarding has expired. I contact the user and find out his address in PayPal wasn't up to date.
Is it rude to ask the buyer to pay for the second shipping charge? If it were just a few bucks i would just do it myself, but it cost $13 last time, and out of a deal for $40 shipped spending $26 on shipping seems like an awful loss :/.

    that seems appropriate. guy should have verified his shipping address at the time of the sale.

    I would politely ask the buyer pay for the next shipping charge, as he failed to keep his information up to date.

    I think it's the buyers responsibility to pay the shipping for the 2nd time, you had no way of know his address with paypal was out of date. You could also offer to split the shipping with them the 2nd time around. 6.50 is better than 13.00.

    yeh man, definitely the buyer's responsibility to ensure his shipping address is updated on PayPal before making a purchase. Not to sound mean, but even if the transaction happened to be hundreds of dollars, that shouldn't change the principle that you shouldn't have to pay for his mistake. I'm sure the dude is a good enough guy and will own up to the shipping charges, at least if he wants his game...

    Thanks for the opinions. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too much of a jerk by asking that he pay the second round of shipping.

    Is all good. I wouldn't expect to not pay for the second shipping. And I'm updating my Paypal. Entirely my fault. No hard feelings I woulda done the same

    Ya, I'd say it's polite to ask for more shipping. It's one reason I always confirm shipping addresses. :/
