Was at the flea market midday Sunday, happened by a booth that I've certainly shopped in the past, the lady occasionally has something vintage light related I'll pick up (never really anything noteworthy, but she always tells me she brings in new stuff when she comes across it). I figured it was worth prowling about a bit and I'm very glad I did. Ended up with 14 strings of C6 bulbs, which was awesome since I've had a hell of a time finding them the last few years. The oldest are the two on the right of the picture with the cloth cords, without looking too closely I think they're from the late 30s. The others are probably between mid '50s and mid '60s. One of the cords had bubble light clips (neat metal clips that came in strings of the old bubble lights to hold them upright on the tree), on each socket. Got the one string of the big bulbs which is a really old cord with copper sockets. The cord on that one is too brittle for use anymore, but it's a nice display piece. All of the C6 cords are in good condition and will probably be used this year. I was like a kid in a candy store, carrying all that stuff to her counter.
The best part was the price ended up being all of $19.
The best part, in the box of bulbs:
Early '50s bubble light, working great, and it's got a base shape that I actually didn't have any of before.
I realize how very little most everyone probably cares, so I put this in the small scores thread instead of making a thread for it, but I wanted to share my good fortune, this is what I collect from November to January, and I honestly enjoy it as much as I do my NES collection, I probably won't have any other find this year close to this one, just for sheer volume and great price.
To put it in NES terms, it was a lot like finding Dragon Warrior 1 - 4 for a dollar each.
Haven't found much of anything good game related in ages.
Not a new item, but definitely a small score. I've had a Wizmaster NES controller for a while now, but it was missing the joystick part (it's a removable stick that screws into a D-pad). I was going through my box of controllers and happened across it...and lo and behold, the joystick was tied up in the cord! I must not have noticed it when I got it. Like I said, not a big deal or a new item, but it was a nice little score for the evening
Found a copy of Sqoon over the weekend for $5, I was surprised to see it brings what it does, I thought only the CIB was expensive. Almost passed on it.
Got an email today on my cl ad for n64 stuff, he said he had a system a game and two controllers. Well it ended up being mario kart 64 no box but a very nice players choice cart, two official nintendo bran controllers (grey and black) and i was pretty happy when i opened the memory slot to find an expansion pack. All for $20 i'd call it a decent score. I'll probably use the controllers as play controllers as there sticks are looshish, like not bad but not collector shape.
Got myself a new controller for the Nintendo 64. It's a third-party controller from the "UnderControl" brand. I hadn't heard of them before, but they also make Super Nintendo and GameCube-controllers. Too bad I couldn't find a website. If anyone's interested in seeing a photo of the controller, please reply.
Personally, even though the design isn't optimal, I like the controller. Especially the analoge stick!
Got lucky and found a Stunt Racer in the wild a few weeks ago.. Went to another store in Tampa where they had buy 2 get 1 free and found a mint Super Bowling and another Stunt Racer for $9.99 each.. My free game I got Tarzan for N64. I also picked up a Resident Evil 2 at a different location for $3.99
Picked these up today, in decent shape. Ninja Kid and Volleyball cost me 20 apiece, Tennis 15, Soccer 25, and Balloon Fight a whopping 60. I'm very happy with the purchase and will be selling Cibs of all but Soccer and Balloon Fight.
Got a box to complete my Stunt Racer 64. Pretty happy that I didn't pay an absurd amount for this one. I had to piece it together but I got lucky with the manual and box.
My box of 43 SNES commons came in today. When the mail-lady brought it to my house I told her what it was (I know most of the postal workers of my city) and she said "Super Nintendo!? I think I've got some of that. I'll bring it by for you next time." So, woo! I'll update if she actually follows through on that.
finally found me a mickey's adventures in numberland.....5 bucks!!!!!!! also got addams family pugsleys scavenger hunt for 5 , fisher price firehouse rescue fro 5, and lolo 3 for 10, and also world champ by romstar for 4. World Champ is actually ridiculouslly uncommon.. didnt know it existed and ive been in teh game for awhile. first time in forerver I saw an nes game i hadnt seen before. I swear i knew them all. good thing i got it since the cart is nearly a 20 dollar cart.

Nerdiest game in the history of nerds? (yes, I'm sending it to VGA... yes, I know its not getting higher than a 75 even if I'm lucky)

Well lookey what I got here
IT DOESN'T GET ANYMORE COMPLETE & NICER THAN THIS!
Not amazing, but still a score.
