Does anyone here replace N64 analog sticks?

As the title states, I'm looking for someone who repairs the N64 analog sticks.  Just message me with pricing and time frames.

  • There's stick parts on ebay, it's not too hard to do if you can operate a screwdriver IMO. You just open it, take the back off, and take the other screws out that hold the joystick in and put the new one in if you but a new ball one.
  • Looked like there were some wires that connected to the board. Didn't feel like messing it up.
  • Nothing you can mess up, trust me.

It's a plug and play job. There is a single connector that can be placed one way.

If you are really against doing it I'm sure someone on here can charge you for it. I would, but I'm heading out of town in less than a week and shipping both ways would probably take longer than I have. Once I got the controller it is less than 5 minutes work.

If you would like to just buy a controller with the joystick replaced PM me and we can work something out. I have one controller I just replaced the stick in and an extra stick around waiting for a second.

I have a variety of colors, too. The sticks are the aftermarket GameCube style sticks, not like the originals, if that matters to you.
  • Its easy to do yourself. Pm starwander (nintendorepairhut.com)

He has the parts with a full guide how to change
  • Thanks! Will do.
  • I replaced hundreds of them when I worked at PnT. We swapped every 64 stick that got traded in and charged $5 (on the spot) for a swap on customers controllers if they needed it. Trust us, you can do it yourself. The hardest part is going to be remembering there are 2 smaller screws in the ruble pak/memory card slot. Get those out before you "pop" the controller apart. Then again, you will only make that mistake once.

Once inside it is just a couple of mounting screws and a small plug.

they were $3.35 on amazon at one point

  • My boss used to get them in quantities of 50 or more. I think they were a buck a piece. That is one thing I regret not buying from the store for myself. She got them from a game/accessory supplier Play N Trade went through for everything. Inex or something of like that. It has been years...
  • ztnet used to sell good sticks

some people will say to use the gamecube sticks, but the response ranges on those don't mirror legit N64 pads, so i'd avoid, personally
