NTSC NES Controllers in a PAL NES?

Essentially what the title says; can I use a NES controller bought in America on my PAL NES?

Yes, I have done this and you can do the other way around too.

Not always. Some PAL consoles require pull up resistors in the controllers which the USA controllers don't have. Easy and cheap to add tho.

OK sweet, thanks for the replies everyone. Just in the need of some Dogbone NES controllers, and they are insanely expensive here.
