Nintendo Power Magizines and Posters

I bought a lot of NP mags the other day. A couple 89/90 mostly issues 20ish through 62, missing a few in between from a guy from CL. Almost all of them have there posters, some really nice ones, metroid, secret of mana, etc. Just wondering how much of the value would be lost if I removed the posters so I could display them, and whats a good method of removeing them. razor blade? ... side note, i paid about 2 dollars a piece, total of 52 magizines + 2 ff guides and mario 3 guide.

  • It's really gonna be up to you since you own them. In this day and age I personally wouldn't remove them. They do have value and that value adds to the magazine. I can't tell you how much because there are other things that add value to the magazine. Those posters really do as well. Are the magazines in mint condition or are they beat up\in bad condition? If the posters are really nice, then you could remove them for display only IF you want to and careless about the value. you seem to care about the value. Otherwise you could purchase a duplicate magazines that contains the posters you want. Well that is if you can find the duplicate at a really cheap prices.
  • Fair price. Personally, I collect to read and enjoy. So I've pulled posters of games I like and have them all over the walls in my "man-cave" room. To me, as long as I treat them well they will stay nice and readable for many years to come. The only time I care what they're worth is if I have to replace them for some reason, and hopefully I won't have to.
  • I would frame them.
  • Wow! Two $ a pop is a very reasonable price. Unless you plan on reselling them in the future I would say take your favorite posters out and display them. Not much of a down side if they're yours for the keeps!

The Library of Congress has many issues of Nintendo Power and almost all of the start-up video game museums have at least one copy each as well. Preservation is taken care of for all intents and purposes.
  • Some of the early ones are rough, 90% of them are really nice, some folds and minor cover damage. Too lazy to take a pic of em all. I might try to make a list of what issues have the posters I want, and buy the worst condition "cheap" mag with a poster. "thesubcon3" I will, without a doubt be framing the posters, not with cheap frames, I want them to look nice. Thx for the advice guys.

I bought these, really just to look/read them. Didnt realize i'd love the posters so much.
