Getting a message about feedback recieved?

I think the topic sums it up. I know sometimes I can be a little slow at giving feedback after a transaction, not because I'm ignoring the person, but because I wasn't aware that they recieved the item. I know some members are really good at letting you know that the package has been recieved and that they left feedback. But I still think it would be great to recieve a message once feedback is left. So you know to leave it back for them if you haven't already. I know I've lost a few feedback points due to people not leaving them. I don't know, maybe I'm just being picky. Ideas?

  • That's a good idea. eBay just started sending out feedback reminders.

This old site I use to use a lot, there was a feature added where the feedback left on you would only get added to your account after you left feedback for the other person. So basically both people have to leave feedback in order to get credit. After that was added, people were sure to leave feedback every time.

I really like the idea that neither party will get credit until both have left feedback. I had one situation where someone left negative, false feedback in a "MoT" after I left them positive feedback. I think both parties should have to leave and approve each others feedback before it's credited to both accounts.

  • If I'm sending out a package, I leave feedback as soon as they pay, what reason is there to wait other than retaliatory feedback?
  • Yea, I don't understand Ebayers who wait for you to leave feedback on them before they leave it on you. You're the buyer, their feedback is only based on if you paid for the item or not, as well as communication I guess, not whether you left them positive feedback or not. The buyers feedback is on the item and if it stayed true to the description.
  • K.Thrower, I agree with you there. I used to wait, but it really doesn't make sense to. So I leave it as soon as I get paid.

Ipsylos, eBay is usually pretty good with me. I'm referring more to members on NA. I've missed out on a few transaction points due to them not leaving feedback. After the transaction, they just seem to ignore me. I do like Mogs' idea though, once feedback is recieved on both ends then it gets processed.
  • I agree--I had a member who I've had two transactions with recently send me a similar message. I purchased two lots off of him--and he emailed me asking to leave him feedback, and in return, he would leave feedback for me.

When I'm selling something, I leave feedback immediately after payment is received. If I'm buying something, I leave feedback after I receive the items, test them, etc. I thought this was just the norm.
  • Yea, that should be the norm, and I do agree with the feedback being processed after both parties leave it, as well as both parties being able to look over it and possibly talk things over if one or the other isn't satisfied, although I wouldn't see how a seller wouldn't be satisfied if he got the payment.
  • I dont think you should be able to review feedback before its official. If you want good feedback, earn it in the first place.

Although if you are going to leave bad feedback, it should be common courtesy to at least message the person before you do so to try and work things out. But in the end, feedback is your opinion on the person/transaction. If you really feel you were wronged, then its your right to leave bad feedback. Like I just said, if you want good feedback, EARN IT.

  • Well yes, but there are a lot of yahoos out there who simply get turned off by certain things and just leave a neg without a word. Which is why reviewing the feedback before it's finalized is fair encase there was a miscommunication, or the buyer/seller is just a dick. That's just my opinion though.
  • Some people just won't work things out with you. Even after I left this guy positive feedback, he left BS and I have no way of defending myself on that transaction. I certainly didn't "earn" dishonest feedback. You should be able to see and approve the others feedback first so that if an issue arises, you can work it out BEFORE BOTH feedbacks are left...that way no one gets screwed over.
  • I think a bit differently than some of you. First off, I ALWAYS leave feedback here and on eBay. If I sell an item I always wait until they have received their item, are happy with it and have left me feedback. I have had a few buyers (on eBay, not here) that have claimed that the item was never received even though my tracking number says it was delivered, and they wanted a refund or would leave me a negative. I have had buyers leave false negative feedback without even trying to contact me. I have had people buy something, not want it and then threaten a negative if I didn't cancel the transaction. I have had to open several cases due to nonpayment and afterward they are mad because the case was opened and threaten to leave negative feedback. I don't feel that buyer feedback should be based solely on prompt payment. If someone pays quickly but leaves you a false negative or tries to scam you out of a partial/full refund, I don't feel that this is worthy of a positive feedback. Wouldn't you feel kind of cheated out of being able to voice your opinion on a transaction if you get falsely smeared or blackmailed in the end, just because you wanted to be a good seller by leaving prompt positive feedbck just because they paid quickly?
  • I love the OP's idea. It would be great to be notified of feedback received or even to be reminded to leave feedback.

As for cross-checking feedback, I'd have to disagree. No one is going to like receiving less than perfect feedback, and I don't think that just because some problems have been fixed (that probably shouldn't have existed to begin with) automatically means someone should receive positive feedback. Feedback is supposed to be an informative tool for the buyer, seller, and anyone else who wants to deal with them. Just because someone doesn't have perfect feedback doesn't mean I'm not going to deal with them, but it's always good to know what you're getting yourself into.
  • I'm really proactive about NA feedback personally. But are notifications really that important? just send the person a PM.
