Im about 10 hours in too and man, this is simply the best game I have ever played. The intro is kind of slowish but even that part isnt dreadful and boring. But once you start actually playing, its hard as hell to quit. Speaking of ... see ya!
Well, it's been awhile since I started this. But through MLB The Show and a couple others I finally finished. I have to say the ending was somewhat of a letdown, but the game overall was a great one. For anyone wondering, it took me close to 10 hours while doing a very large portion of the extra quests and stuff.
10 hours to complete the game? You're kidding right?
I'm 21 hours into the game, also doing a large portion of extra quests and I believe there's still a lot more to come...
How did you like the game?
I like it, but it's not THE best I've ever played. But I like the fact that every time I'm getting bored or something's bothering me, the game succeeds in adding something new/extra that makes it worth playing again. I also like the fact that there are some riddles that you have to solve with your Wizard's Companion. So the Wizard's edition definitaly was worth it (paid 150 euros).
Overall a good, maybe even great game, that will be known as one of the best on the PS3 system, but it has it's flaws... I'm glad I bought it, like the graphics style, like the music. There are not enough Ghibhli movies and there should be much more voice acting!
Oh btw, please don't spoil anything about the story ...
My mistake. 106 hours. I won't spoil any of the story because it is a decent one for the most part. I also agree about the Wizards companion being well worth it's price. Excellent usage within the game.
I'm having the same problem Auronn, While the game is good, I just end up losing interest. I just feel the games story is taking a massive diversion from the main story line. I'm about 18 hours into it. So by now I would expect the sotyr to be a t full pace but it's still the same process. Travel to a new town -oh there's a problem- then we have to fix the towns problem in order to get a new spell. I know that's a basic way of looking at it but that's all it seems to have been so far rather than actually going on a quest after Shadar and this Witch.
Take the Infamous FFVII for example, you don't leave Midgar to gain power. Your on the hunt after what you believe to be Sephiroth and through that it take so many twists and turns. Sure when you enter a new area a crisis may appear but on that game it feels more like it's giving the game variety. In Ni No Kuni it just feels like the same structure each time.
I'm also annoyed about the 20 hours tutorial. There wee many times before I got access to the all attack/all defend commands that my A.I. would just die. So I ended just running away from bosses in battle trying to heal myself and get a few attacks in. It turned a 10 minute battle into a 30 minute battle, when really the game knew the issue but just didn't give me the option to address my A.I. characters. Ever since I have had that ability the game has been a breeze.
I will continue to play Ni No Kuni, but I am going at such a slow pace, like 3 hours per week - For me that is nothing on a JRPG! It's just not captured me like I hoped it would
I feel you ultimadream. I balanced it out between grinding, quests, and story so not to lose too much interest. But there would be times where I wouldn't play for a week simply because the game seems to keep that slow pace throughout the game. The story will move along, but it becomes such a drag sometimes. I think another factor may have been redundancy. Listen, I'm the biggest fan of grinding. I made sure to get 99 of every spell in Final Fantasy 8 for each character, but there's something about this game that brings it down when it comes to grinding.
Overall, the game is great. But I still can't place it on top after finally beating it. I believe Valkyria Chronicles will hold my spot for top PS3 RPG.

I'm with you completely ultimadream and you too, Tim81DE. I'm glad you guys feel the same about it. You come in a new town, want to go on with the story, and then there's someone brokenhearted again . I try to swith between grinding/side quests and the main story to keep my interest in the game. I hope to finish the game too, but I'm afraid I won't find the time, as I'm going to the US for 3 months in 2 weeks. As I'm also only playing 3-5 hours a week. Hope to pickup the game again when I get back. It has been a long time since I finished an RPG (FFX probably ). But as I paid 150 euro, I really want to do the effort . And I'm still enjoying it a lot more then I did with FF XIII (2 times started and gave up after 7 hours).
I finished the game in all the aspects I wanted to with about 115 hours in. I had no disappointments whatsoever and consider this the best game Ive ever played. I enjoyed every moment and am looking forward to another playthrough.
I just think I may have outgrown the genre. Like I said, Valkyria Chronicles is my favorite PS3 RPG and I had to stop at one point and come back to it. I, on average, played the Ni No Kuni 1.53 hours a day up until completion. Obviously this wasn't the case as I would make up time on another day. I just feel like maybe my game genre has changed, despite me being a huge RPG nut. I'm now working on the original Hyperdimension Neptunia.
