Nintendo DS Neon Sign / GameCube Press Release Package

Long story short, I ran into a Nintendo DS neon sign at a local used media store. The manager asked me to make an offer. I opened with $75, which I thought was a good offer, but he declined. He got me up to $150 or so but was firm on $200. I walked on the deal. I did some research when I got home, but was only able to find that one was struggling to sell at $50/$100 back in 2010. There was also one that sold in a local auction somewhere in 2008(?) for something like $17.50. This brings me to believe that my initial valuation of $75 was not too far off. I am feeling glad that I walked, but I also wanted to seek some confirmation that I made the right move.

It is similar to the one below (not my picture):

Since I'm making a thread, I'd like to tack this on as well. I got this at a yard sale a while back. It appears to be a compilation of press releases and fact sheets. It was cool to see the tentative titles, like Animal Forest. There's also a publisher contact list with names, email addresses, and phone numbers.

The orange CD has a bunch of .PSD files with "high quality" pictures of the products and characters as well as some animations. With the exception of the purple GameCube disc, I couldn't find any information on this stuff at all. I figured one will pop up on eBay eventually, but never was able to find one to this day. Does anyone know who these were distributed to and if there is any value to this package? I love these promotional pieces and think it is cool regardless.

Thanks NA for all your help!

Ben

  • Strange nobody ever answered this, I know its been awhile but yes you were smart to walk on the Neon sign, The DS "Neon" is a $60-$100 sign (minus shipping if needed) this is the going rate though you will find people occasionally committed to an online auction raising the price way up those are few. And as anything else some people will find a stellar deal you could have only wished for but the median price of $75 was good and personally I would have stopped at $90. (And just a side note as of the last year the pricing on "neon" signs has severely dropped)

Your Gamecube brochure came from somebody who worked for the Kroger company your area of AZ known as "Frys" where I live "Fred Meyers" The disc in the purple sleeves were handed out to the customers and just put on a shelf near the Nintendo merchandise for customers to take, A copy of the orange packet was sent to every store to educate the associates of the electronics dept of the upcoming games. I as well obtained both from a friend who worked for them I want to say that was 02'ish? I would have to pull them out and look again but needless a value on those would probably not be much as of their nature but a starting .01 bid on ebay no reserves and no buy it nows will tell you the real value.

    hope that helps
  • I just picked this exact same sign up for $120 shipped. It cost a little under $30 to ship it, so you can figure it's worth around 80-$100. I figured it was a decent deal on a Nintendo neon, so I took it.
  • Where can I download the CD's contents and the Fact Sheet scans?
