Holy crap - Garage-sale ecstasy!

My wife and I went garage-sale cruising earlier today, and we got back home about two hours ago.  In total, I spent a little under $105  from two separate garage-sellers.

With Kolibri, Megaman 1-7, X, X2, and X3, to say nothing of all four Dragon Warriors for NES, which are all mint condition (thus replacing my tatty old copies from eBay), I think I made out like the proverbial bandit.

  • holy crap Doctor Dan! that's a lot o' Megaman!
  • There's nothing but high end titles lol. Congrats.
  • Very nice finds!

Who the hell is having garage sales in Michigan, in December?
  • Good to see someone having luck at garage sales. Some very nice games there, especially the MegaMans! I wish I could find stuff like that at garage sales but now a days it's only old people selling their junk.
  • That's amazing ! Very nice find man !
  • WOW! Were the games in the 10 game case just like that? Or did you put them in there?

Actually, the Megaman carts, Mario Kart, and the Sega stuff (minus Kolibri and Gunstar Heroes) came from Indiana.  But yes, your point is well-taken.  Midwesterners are bloody CRAZY.  The guy in Indiana was wearing shorts and flip-flops. Up until about two days ago, we hadn't even gotten snow this year - it has been unseasonably warm in winter for the past two years.  People are beginning to adapt.

Southern Michigan provided the rest; picked up a few Atari titles as well, but nothing spectacular (Fireworld was the most impressive title).  Also rounded out a few of the less-impressive stuff I remembered fondly from my younger years, like Starfox for SNES and Asterix for Gen.

I actually bought two of those game cases (as well as two wall-mount SNES cart organizers) from my local Play'n'Trade about two weeks ago for $2.50 each, as well as a crapload of manuals and inserts for a total of $1.  I just really LOVE the things and couldn't resist showing off.

EDIT: Oh, and I did see a factory-sealed copy of Earthbound in Kalamazoo.  Unfortunately, the lady wanted $800 for it, and I hate the game anyway.

Was thinking the same thing. Wow!!! Lucky you're still having garage sales man. Garage sales ended two months ago in upstate NY.

You still coulda made a killing on that if you had the $800 on hand, that had to be kinda painful.
  • Good buys. I still need Mega Man X3. Shame that they are all non-gloss labels. Those never seem to hold up very well especially on fun games that get played alot.
  • My real thought was "Okay, this lady has this desirable game in sealed condition, knows how valuable it is...and isn't selling it on eBay, but at a 'garage sale'?"  It smelled fishy to me.  I suspect that it was a reseal or something; I just got bad vibes from it.  Again, I totally hate the game, and if I got burned on that, I'd be titanically furious.

Besides, sealed games make me sad; games are meant to be played, not displayed.

Actually, if it was sealed in cellophane then yes it was a reseal and there's no telling what was inside it. Earthbound never came in cellophane.

    Edit: Heh, cellophone

  • Awesome finds for sure
  • Holy shit...as if the carrying case wasn't in pretty shape alone, you open it and it's like an NES gold brick of happy time with all the Mega Man and Dragon Warrior titles in there. Hell pick either library, it's worth more than you paid for all those pictures. The SMS games really caught my eye how clean they were and well for Phantasy Star but the SNES games knock it out of the park as much as the NES games I think. Lucky sob.
  • Damn, some awesome games there. Someone has good taste! Nice job!!
  • Holy Crap man! You get some major beautys there bro!I'm totally feeling that Mega Man7 and x3!And the four Dragon Warrior games only sweeteds the deal!Congrets!
  • awesome score man
  • Wow so northern indiana.... I must be slippin
  • What on earth do people do with all their manuals? It's so sad to see such great games come cart only. The original owner of these games was clearly a dedicated gamer. I would think they would have kept the manuals and maps.
  • Hitting my old territory... from kzoo originally.
  • Paid for X3 and got X3 worth as a bonus. Way to go man.
  • what luck!
  • I've only ever found Mega Man 2,4 and 6 in Michigan at one location. nice job.
  • Wow. Amazing find. All NES Mega Man games, all Mega Man X titles and 7, and all Dragon Warrior games. Lots of solid titles there. Very nice.
  • FRINK FRINK FRANK FRONK!!!!

You my good sir are amazing.... I paid more than you paid for this lot for my X2 and X3 alone...

Let alone what I paid for my 1-6 and I got damn sexy deals on 1-6 (Grant total $46.96 for those)

Im into my 7 and my x for about 30 each, and my X2 and X3 for $75 each + so in my megamans you have here I'm into it for $256.96
  • So many good games. I'm even jealous Phantasy Star IV came in a plastic case. Genesis card board boxes are terrible.
  • That's way too many good games at once. You sure the person wasn't a collector? I've never seen such a condensed amount of good games picked up at once. Kind of odd. Congrats
