I still want to know if the console will be available in a clear shell after the limited edition. I don't think my question ever got answered a page or so back. No worries, obviously. I'm just stoked that this thing is coming out soon at all.
Except for random one offs for things like NA server fundraiser, no more clear shells after LLE. No plans for another production color unless it is an order of magnitude more popular than I expect.
LLE will probably just be sold on retrousb.com at a set price. Managing an auction with ~90 items sounds like too much work now that ebay no longer has dutch.

I dug around the site and I see no way of doing multiple auctions as one. You could make one template, save it, and then use turbolister to schedule the template to list many times.

If they're all identical (non-numbered), then you could just click on the "sell similar" 89 times after making the first auction.
Yup they are numbered Having them all end really fast would do weird things as people lose #1 then dont have time to bid on #2-10. If its just a BIN then that doesnt help because I could just list them on my site and not lose big from ebay/paypal fees.

Will there be a limit per customer on the 90 you list on retrousb? It will suck for NA members who are excited about a LE version and miss out because several people decide to buy 5+ LE's and flip them on eBay once your stock is gone.
Personally I don't care which version I get. I just want one of either variety.
The LLE sounds tempting but if the price is significantly greater than the RE, I might pass. For instance, if it's $200 for the RE and $400 for the LE or some crazy number, then I'll get the RE. If it's only $50 more, I'd probably splurge on an LE though. Honestly Brian needs to do a strict limit of two max per customer on the LEs. I don't want to see some asshat buy up over half of them in the first ten minutes only to flip them for hundreds more on resellerbay.

I also have this concern. It would be great if RetroUSB started offering pre-orders. Even better if they gave preference to Nintendo Age members.
Yes, preorders on the LE would be the ultimate solution. I don't think it would be an issue with NA policy provided Brian had the stock on hand prior to taking money. Reserve lists are also a possibility, with a small wait list at the end in case a few people neg out. Some always do.

Thats hilarious! $50 more doesn't even cover the materials costs.

Except preorders doesn't stop resellers, because they can preorder too. 100% of the NT sales were preorders and were immediately (and continue to be) listed stupid high on ebay. The best way to stop resellers is to have an auction so they are already paying market price, and there is a longer time period for buyers to discover them. But that likely means everyone pays more. Maybe I should contact atwood for his NDA text

Maybe 1-10 either here or ebay, and then 11-90 on your site? That way you could squeeze out the resellers a bit without mass chaos.
How about auctioning off around 10 or 20 every week (or every few days)? I think that would control the chaos a bit, and it'd give everyone enough time to check it out.
eBay makes it pretty easy to make new listings from previous auctions, so having that broken up over a couple months would probably ease the monotony.
How bout, just like, ya know, throw em up for sale on your site and limit it to one per order... Crazy idea, I know but what the hell; it may just work.

Yup, you are going to want all the traffic to go towards retrousb.com anyway, so you might as well put them up there. Put it up quietly and let the hype threads start themselves. Also, send me a PM right before you do it

Just pulling numbers out of my ass. What you charge for the LE, or if you decide to auction them is your own business. In all honesty, I'll probably just get the RE, cool as the clear LEs are. I buy games to play them anyway, or at least with the intention of playing them.
I find it hard to imagine the Analogue NTs had much room for scalping when they were pre-selling for $500 with the Kevtris HDMI mod. Then a bunch of people got butthurt when they found out the HDMI upgrade could not be used with RGB as it was initially advertised, due to incompatability with RGB addon and the Game Tech addon. Plus I thought they always looked a bit more like like a steam punk N64 than an NES to me.
You, however, got the retro styling down pat while also being totally unique and not copying Nintendo's design. Even Gametech was selling pre-modded Kevtris NES systems for $399, which makes the AVS look like a steal in comparison. What I love most though of the is no "recycled" parts like all the mod jobs, and no cheap schight like the NOAC clones.
I bought a Gamerz Tech clone because it had cool styling and reportedly was the first model that worked with Castlevania III (to ther credit it did), but to my horror it had the same reversed duty cycles the old Yobos and NEXes from 2004. Some people won't notice the audio difference even if you point it out to them, but for those who do, it's ear grating. One step forward, two steps back. PowerPak, Star Keeper (87 Arts, unknown mapper), and The Incident (Khan, GT-ROM flash board) absolutely do not work at all on any clone system. Be nice to play homebrews or flash carts on the HD monitor, something the Retro Freak and Retron5 fail miserably at doing.

Are you expecting shortages? I think actually met you at PRGE 2015. I shot a very brief video of the AVS in action. Since that time it's received about 6,500 views. The thing is though I've had dozens of people ask me about the product, either through the comment section or by sending me a personal message. I have a very strong feeling that this product is going to be a huge success, possibly bigger than you're expecting. I'm hoping I won't get left out in the cold. *fingers crossed* I knew when I saw this thing at PRGE that I was going to buy it on day one. I just think it's a great product, at a great price.
I just think it's a great product, at a great price.
Indeed. Given the existing competition (Game Tech HDMI mod, Analogue NT, NESRGB or Super 8 plus fancy upscaler, etc...) starts around $400 and only goes up from there, the Regular Edition AVS for "Under $200" is a smashingly good deal, as well as the only true HD option for NES fans built around all new hardware (besides the shitty emulator clones).
Don't get me wrong, the emulator clones (Retron5 and Retro Freak) serve their purpose as mass market clone devices, but if you really want to play NES homebrew or flash carts in HD, the AVS is truly the best and only affordable option.
So the AVS will have it's own awesome wireless controllers eventually, but I was wondering if the system would be compatible with something like this little adapter from 8bitdo (and AnalogueNT): The Retro Reciever?
Admittedly, I find the idea of playing Mario with a ps4 controller slightly amusing.

It should since it's shown working with the original NES. The AVS is supposed to be compatible with all the same things the NES is.

It should be. As a matter of fact, someone just mentioned it earlier tonight in the Retro Freak thread on AtariAge and I just (as in minutes ago) bought an NES reciever along with a 8bitdo FC30 controller from Play Asia. I also previously owned the NES30 version as well and it is nice and well built, if a bit blocky. I wonder if it uses Y+B or B+A for the action buttons on NES?

I tried the SNES version of this adapter at E3 in 2015. It really is a cool little device. I've ordered the NES adapter, and hope the SNES adapter will be available soon. The controllers that go with them are also a nicely built with amazing battery life. The NES version would be a perfect match for the AVS.
I never knew Analogue NT had a role in the development of this product. I'd like to know more about that.

Yeah, I really like the quality of the NES30 game pad. I've had one for a few years now and it still works great. I ordered the reciver too ($20 is a steal honestly) and i'm really looking forward to trying it out on NES (and AVS!)

Now find one that isn't 7 years old.
They still allow multiple itms with BIN. I'll check to see about auctions.

Should take you about 15-20 minutes to list.
