  • Wow that looks cool!
  • Very cool, it'll be worth some extra dough with a label like that.
  • One of my favorite games ever. EVER! You are one lucky guy... Where/how did you come across it?

Edit: I will gladly trade you 2 pairs of pumas and 8 pairs of socks for it

Found it locally at a game store.  Something looked odd about it and the game felt a bit heavier than a normal one would.  Took a gamble on buying it.  Has the small flat head type screws on it.  Really neat looking though.

As for the label.  Its a sticker that looks custom made.  Guessing someone didn't know what it was and put that label on it....who knows.
  • Super cool, nice to know stuff like this is still out there.
  • It might very well have been a preview copy sent out to magazines. Best thing to do would be to get it dumped, and compare it to the commercial rom set.

Any interest in getting rid of it?

Depends.  I have no idea what this bad boy might be worth.........
  • I have tried a search on google and here on NA and have found nothing about a prototype of this game existing. If it is a prototype indeed. Maybe Mark or Dream can throw in some input.....
  • 100% proto for sure, super cool find of an excellent game!

so is that half-label after-the-fact? I figured your "100% proto" meant the board itself.

  • When am I going to find a proto

    Great find dude!
  • Wow, awesome find man!

Tough to say.  When it comes to proto labels, there are few rules.  Some companies use consistent labels, even down to the eprom stickers, some use preproduction black and white art, some seem to just grab whatever it is next to them.

I'll see if I can dig up some odd labels that vaguely resemble what you have, but I wouldn't doubt the person who created the cart attached the label as well.

  • I think either way it looks pretty nice especially with the color print out but it probably was originally there too. It appears to be what would have been a full page spread in a gaming magazine of that era shrunk down to fit the area given on the mold of the NES cart and just taped there. Sometimes those dumb ads would end up back then running like 3-6months before a game came out if the date slipped + due to lag in print times being a couple months too.
  • As someone that's come across a prototype or two, I can tell you that I'm insanely jealous.

Great prototype, with an awesome label, and bought at a killer price. It doesn't get much better than that.

I don't want to weigh in on what I think it's worth as I would be interested in making a run at it if you decide to sell.
  • Label looks like it was cut out of a magazine ad, cool find!
  • Very sweet find. I dream of finding a proto in the wild for a cheap price.

Well, that pretty much puts me out of the running

If you're really super interested in this proto, I will step back for ya.
  • Thanks for all the input. As of right now I am not sure what I want to do with it. I'm really surprised to have come across this and I knew something felt odd about it so my $10 gamble was worth it in a way. Is this the first proto of this game that has come to light? I've tried some searches but no info on it. I can always fire it up and compare the released to this.
  • Glad you overcame the flu and got out to find this! Good find pal!!

I thought I remember one being for sale, but it looks like you could be right.  As far as I can tell Dream didn't have one (I of course could be very wrong) and Matt and I don't own one.  Haven't found one through my resources either.
  • Nice find ! Makes me jealous as Kicle Cubicle is one of my favorite games. I was looking to buy a Kickle Cubicle proto some time ago but also didn't find any info on the internet.
  • Sorry for bringing up my post but I was curious on how much this prototype can be worth? I've done my research and I have came across nothing that has surfaced of this proto. Being that of a semi-common game, a semi-popular puzzle game at that, what would be a fair price. I am not selling at the moment but just for my own personal records........
