  • Thanks Tanooki!. That's awesome you guys had a friendship like that, the friend I went up there with we are like that. And you used to have Aero Fighters? I am guessing you are either talking about that or the mega mans in your post a little lost and I hope the best of luck to you when you are out hunting for that game!
  • I wasnt going to say anything, but you just called prople who were commenting and more or less looking out for ya have no morals? Um lol wut? U posted a find here, u mentioned what you traded for it. People commented that you over traded. We all agreed that if your happy thats fine whatever, but you said you were helping out a store owner friend who didnt sound much like a friend on that trade. But apparently now we have no morels? What?
  • Wow thanks for catching that man I did not mean for it to sound like that at all. I was just really mad that everyone on here was saying that he screwed me over when we help each other out. That was lack of better words and I apologize for saying that. To me though as a new poster it seemed like everybody was attacking me for helping a friend out and him getting me a game I wanted in return and I overpayed for no reason. So naturally I'm like there are people out there like this? Now that I have actually looked at it from a different point of view I can kind of see there point. I am deeply sorry for what I said in frustration and will delete that part of the comment
  • I just felt like people were calling me stupid for helping out a friend when he has done the same for me. So like yeah did I give him a good deal yes. Did I help him out getting something he wanted from himself since he doesn't get new stock in, Yes. Did I get a game I have been dieing to get, Yes. That's how I look at it and I don't like being called stupid for something I am relatively good at. As anybody I am pretty sure it would cause frustration and it could be taken the wrong way. I was about to say I didn't get EVO and Harvest moon in trade by being stupid.

No people were not calling you out for helping out a friend, they were calling you out because you made a bad trade. Still glad you got this game. Still glad you helped him out. Glad everybody got what they wanted. Still a bad trade. Who called you stupid man? Everybody makes bad deals now and then. But coming on here and asking for opinions and then getting frustrated is like jumping in a shark tank and being surprised you got bit

BUT STILL!! I'm glad you got the game.
  • nice pickup man, a helpin friend is how I just got Final Fantasy 2&3 SNES with instructions/ maps for $38
  • Whoa! With deals like this, who needs friends. Sorry, I'm being sarcastic but sounds like the dude bent you over. I wouldn't call that a friendship to be honest. You wanna get all but hurt about a bad trade, be my guest but the guy charged you over market value for a cart that he got in his store for a good deal less money and he didn't pass on any of the savings given the situation. It seems like you got honest feedback from collectors on how well you did and didn't like the answer you got.
  • Hmm - ocarina 28 + 3dsxl 178 + black3ds 100 =306

That and he probably paid 100 tops for all the games in that lot. Also you had to inform him on what he had.

Basically the deal is ok man, I know he's your pal but he could've given ya a disc too. Like just take the 3dsxl and the game.

Say with that he's already up 100 plus 29 more games at 10 each ( minimum and retro game stores hardly do that for most games), that's another 290 bucks.

So he's getting about 500 bucks (600 with what you gave him).

Total profit easily 500. Now bad for him at all, but idk man I would've give ya a better deal even if you were a regular at the store because that's how ya keep repeat business.

Eventually in the long run, you'll be winning and maybe he'll hook ya up better next time. But as long as your happy that's all that counts man

Congrats on getting that game too , will ya ever get the box manual for it ? Hehe if you do goodluck with that too
  • I see your point but when I post lb1993 all I'm saying is wheni post to 3 game collecting forums and only Nintendoage thanks I got had, might be a little fishy to me. Two consoles that are going down in value and a game that is a dime a dozen is way worth the trade in most people's eyes. All I'm saying is I'm new on here and I thought it was let's haze the newbie to be honest I thought you guys would look at it as what is the price graph going to do on said itemstraded. We know based on past graphs that the console price will go down and the game will go up. It's common economics supply/demand. The other sites saw that and was like great deal on your part and honestly its a 320osh dollar game for about 335 in trade. Wow lost by 15 bucks everyone wants to make a deal out of it.
  • yea i dunno if you got the "friendship" deal here. Probably the same deal he would have given anyone else that came in the store, i mean the guy pretty much got ABOVE retail of what he could even sell the game for in his store. If i was you i would have waited until he put it out for sale and then just bought it. looks like he was like "hmmmm well i got this guy on the hook, time to reel em in since he wants it so bad"

Either way if your happy about the trade then rock on. I just personally look for "better" deals, and expect better deals from quote on quote "friends".

If that's all that those are worth I would've done that trade in a heart beat. With Aero Fighters almost hitting $300 right now it is a no brainer to me. Grab one of the rarest SNES carts without having to dip into your pocket, or go through the hassle of selling everything on ebay only to get the same amount of value after fees and such.

  • SamSpade so you are saying when you are friends with a business owner the customer is the only one that is supposed to get a deal every now and then and do nothing for your friend in return?  I am just trying to see where you are coming from because if you read the rest of my post you would of read that I told him when the time comes for deals he has given me I was going to help him out back.  It just so happened at the time of him getting this game it was close to his birthday and his sisters birthday.  He wanted a 3ds and wanted to get her a 3ds xl.  So I helped a really good friend get a birthday present for him and his sister.  Yeah totally got screwed over there.  Thats what people aren't understanding is I have known this guy for 9 years more or less.   If he tells me its for something its for something he isn't getting it to resell and I am a man of my word if I say I owe you a favor I'm not going to forget about it.
  • Punkr13 did you not read the other deals he has given me by chance?  He has given me countless deals like rockman and forte cib SFC for 30 dollars and a wonderswan color lot every thing cib when a game by itself goes for 100.  I told him I owed him a favor he cashed that favor in.  Plus if you include ebay fees and paypal fees i would be at right around 270.  Given I don't sell or buy on eBay so with zero feedback my items would still be on eBay while I am sitting around waiting for them to sell.

Haha not the point at all. The point is the store owner made back triple what he paid for the lot of snes games by giving the "op" a "deal". OP told him what aerofighters was( dude I would not tell any store owner, friend or not, what that was if he was offering me that. Store owners aren't here to make friends they are here to make money) whenever he should have sold everything he had on eBay and bought the game after the store owner priced it where he might have gotten a better deal. No need in getting feeling hurt over this and no need making thing out better than they seem. Again good job on getting the game. I personally think you could have done better. But hopefully you get better deals in the future.

It's not that simple as I see the point they are trying to make. The problem is that for many, the distinction between store owner and friend is tough. They are just trying to say if he was their friend, they would expect a better trade, as would I. The trade isn't near as bad as most are making it seem though.

Actually what the store owner paid for the lot of games shouldn't matter at all in this if you guys are making such a distinction between store owner/friend. And go ahead and re-read my post regarding the vaules and ebay of the OP's stuff.

  • Yeah that is true but I also think of it like if I didn't say he was a store owner and did this for a friend, about equal value and helped a friend out there would be no problem and I also think most people aren't seeing that the trade wasn't for his store it was for his self. And for the people saying his profit margin think of it like this, if you bought a car for a dollar and the value of the car is 15 thousand you aren't going to ask 100 dollars for it lets be honest. I don't know what he payed for the lot, didn't ask didn't care.
  • The thing is a friend ( well for me) would probably give ya a deal all the time. Doesn't matter what he has done in the past cuz guess what he's a friend. Unless he's counting how many times he's helped you and wanted to "cash in" on you.

Why I mentioned the total amount of profit he would make is because he could've given you a deal again and still make out.

And if I had a car that I bought for a dollar and could part it out for 15k,hell yah I would give you a part for cheap even free iif I'm making a bunch of profit out of it after the piece you want.

Basically you got a regular deal instead of a friend deal, which probably anyone would do if they had the stuff you traded in.

    Get it?
  • Not a part? The hole price of the car dude. Plus me and my friends we do equal value no matter what we got the games for a friendship is give and take not me getting a deal all the time I'm nicer than that
  • Seriously, who cares what transpired between the op and the store owner, lets just nod, congratulate and move on. Beating him up per say over this deal I not getting anywhere and him being a new member this is probably not making him feel very welcomed.

We all have made silly deals to get what we want and to say you haven't is a lie. Just let him bask in his glory lol.

Nice game I had one for a hot minute and traded it and other things for a very rare NES Test station. I plan on someday getting another Aero Fighters cart and hopefully in the wild again!

  • Thanks shinju! To be honest I just thought it was some newbie hazing to be honest. Like I said my friends and subs on YouTube thought it was a great deal post it on here cause it is a really rare game and get flamed so I was going to stand up for myself not let people try and walk on me.

  • Ok listen - to use what you mentioned about a car.

I pay 1 dollar and make 15k but you tell me it's worth that and I make it. - as a friend I would give you acouple thousand for helping me out.

Maybe it's me but that's what I would do as a friend.

And if you had read my first reply to the thread I did say as long as your happy that's what matters. I was just bringing up the 'friend trade' part that he could've been better with ya.

    See?
  • Ok now I see your point but I also wanted to help him out a little more because 3ds's don't come into his store and him and his sister have really been wanting one so I got them the 3ds's they wanted and got an extremely hard to find game in the process. Most people don't understand he isn't selling them they were for him and his sister
  • I have become more of a lurker than a poster because of all the negative comments in every thread I enter. Nice find.

Years ago I had it with the manual and the map, before people (long before) decided to create the fantasy that it's a super rare game and as such deserves tons of money thrown at it I got it at a retail used shop for $5 and it ended up being one of my most if not favorite vertical shooter for the SNES.  I'd love nothing more to have it back but not for the price it has commanded the last 2years at least.  I had to sell it because I had a bad patch a decade ago and unemployment ran out and then being paycheck to paycheck or less for 2 years I lost 80% of what I had for a collection and it went with it.  Not going to go into details, but it sucks and I wish I had it still, hoping I find it dirt cheap eventually like when I got earthbound last year as a cart for two bucks.

In the end friend or not the store owner fairly well broke you even so it wasn't a friendly trade, but both got what each other wanted so in the end it was a good day for either party.  I'd just let it go and be done with it and the thread, as what you earned isn't even up for debate as it's done and over.

  • Thanks alekx! I won't be negative towards you!
  • I'm sorry to hear that tanooki. I hate when people have financial hardship. It is a great game and I wish nothing but the best of luck to you in finding the game!
  • I think the only reason people are confused by this thread is that Finders Keepers is mostly for those deals where you got a crazy great price on something. In this situation you were the one giving the "friend deal" rather than receiving it so people are kinda like "Wait... how is this a great find?" If that stuff really does only come out to like $300 at current market value though then that's not bad, that's basically what Aero Fighters is worth.
