25 Years later, I finally...

beat Ninja Gaiden.  Stupid game has haunted me.  After losing to the 2nd "final boss" back in the late 80s or early 90s and being returned to level 6-1 I walked away.  High School, College, Career, Marriage and 4 kids later, I decided to give it a whirl.  Tonight I finally beat the bastard and then promptly lost to the 3rd boss.  I needed to complete the 6th level 3 more times before i finally beat the demon, and I did it in front of my 5 year old who really thought it was cool.  My wife on the other hand, thinks I'm nuts, but when I shut my eyes tonight, Ninja Gaiden 1 will no loner haunt me.   Time to start Ninja Gaiden 2.

    Congrats on beaing Ninja Gaiden. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a piece of cake compared to the first. I can beat both on one life, going through the first game without taking a hit until the last boss. NG 2 is harder to make it through without getting hit but it is much more forgiving as far as the birds go and not having to replay the entire last stage if you die against the last bosses. Learning to use the shadow clones makes it a lot easier too. Two of my favorite NES games of all time, as you can tell by my avatar.

    Good job! Yeah, it's a pain in the butt being sent back so far when you die at one of those 3 bosses. It paid off for you though! Man I love that series.

    I beat the game once last fall, and man, it was a week of hell learning the last level (I put in about an hour or so a day til I beat it). Congrats on beating this difficult game!

    I think we can all relate to the frustration in playing that game; I about broke my dogbone controller playing that bad boy. Those birds are so freaking brutal! The first time I beat Ninja Gaiden I got my wife to show her the end credits as I glowed like Rocky beating Mr. T



    After beating it I'd say the second final boss is the toughest; as long as you have the orange throwing star the final boss he's a piece of cake.

    Congrats man! I still haven't gone back to the first Ninja Gaiden. It's in my library and taunts me though.



    I still can't get through the 3rd version of the final boss in Ninja Gaiden 2. I can get there really quick without barely dying. I should probably just watch a youtube video to figure out his pattern quicker. I wish I had all the time I did as a kid to play through these games!
