Yobo NES Clone

in Help Wanted!
my friend recently bought me a YOBO NES clone but it had no controllers or adapter. On the bottom of the console it says 6v AC adapter (200 mA) but on the back it says DC in. I tried both and neither power it on (my AC was 9v). Any suggestions?

    from the smell of the AC port I am going to assume I just fried the console



    asking around I was told it probably is fine so I took a 7v AC adapter from work to test when I get home.

    You probably just fried it. "noac"s(nintendo on a chip) like a Nes will run on 5v of power. What? NES has adapter outputs 9v 850ma of power? Yes, but the board internally has a resistor that restricts it to 5v. Some clones have this resistor and some don't. If the clone is marked for 6v then it's inside that 5v tolerance and uses a 5v-6v power transformer and doesn't have the resistor that strangles down higher voltage. I fried a retro duo by mixing up the adapter to it with a nes adapter, before. It actually put out a puff of smoke when I plugged I did that.



    Edit - The little component in the ones that use 9v inputs is called a 7805 voltage regulator.

    Yeah I tried 4 AC and 2 DC. It started smelling again so yeah it's fried. I appreciate the help, thanks!
