SNES controllers unresponsive w/ diagonals

Hey guys, on some SNES controllers of mine (official ones), it will recognise about 3/5 (some 2/5) diagonal based movements such as throwing hadoukens. I've tried taking them apart, cleaning the contacts and then putting them back together only to get the same results. Could it just be the rubber pads that have worn out and need replacing? Where can I find them?

  • Yeah, I'd say try replacing the pads first, since you already cleaned it. As for kits, Ebay.
  • Yeah ebay for sure, they sell for pretty cheap. Also in the future keep all your controllers whether they work or not just for the parts. Nothing like having official parts to fix these with rather than aftermarket. (If you have the space)
  • ive got about 10 of them with everything working except for the start and/or select button, anyone know if thats an easy fix?
  • That's be pads more than likely, although that's weird start/select wore out first if it is the case. To make sure it's the pads, just open and check for broken rubbers. Easy to spot when you press the pads.
  • Yes its the rubber pads underneath the controllers. They are very easy to replace. PM if you need any.
