  • GHOST N GOBLINS... end of story!
  • For me its always BattleToads

With Game Genie and another person to help me , and we still never beat it

  • TO THE EARTH!!! GOD THAT GAME RRRRRR
  • Maniac Mansion. I believe between everyone in my family that played it, I've only seen it beaten one time.
  • Battletoads. It's so long and difficult.
  • Ghosts n Goblins for sure, Battletoads also... add onto that all the mega man nes titles.
  • Battletoads to this day still frustrates me.

    x2. /endofthread
  • Little Samson, that final boss is hard as balls right now
  • Mega Man 1. When I was young, a friend and I continually rented this game trying to beat it. We never got past the 1 eyed yellow monster in Wily's castle. Eventually a cheat was posted to make him a pushover but not til months after we quit renting the game.
  • Ninja Gaiden 3. Oh Christ! Ninja Gaiden 3!
  • Wrath of the Black Manta.
  • Battle Kid. LOL.

Dude that game is brutal! I played it a few weeks ago for about an hour and was like "eh where's that Ninja Gaiden cart?"
  • Castelian, very frustrating.
  • Battletoads, riding levels are brutal.
  • Ghosts 'n Goblins, Battletoads and Double Dragon.
  • Gauntlet, Gauntlet 2, Ghosts'n'Goblins, Battletoads.

    These games haunt my nightmares.
  • Battletoads.
  • yeah i love gauntlet [tengen!] got near the end but never fully made it. could never find cheat codes for it, either. I always use the valkyrie, shes the best one in the whole game besides the elf

The game is really easy if you watch a video playthrough of it. There's alot of weird design things going on but I beat it in an afternoon after dedicating some time to playing it.

And to the guy that said Kid Icarus is hard, it's really tough the first few levels but it's a rare type of game that gets way easier the further in the game you get. The last level is really super easy, it's like a shmup and the last boss is cakewalk if you position Pit in the right way, you won't even get hit.

I think alot of people consider some older games hard because people just fire them up and don't take the time to learn the nuances of how to play. Friday the 13th is a good example of this, once you figure out that you need to light all of the fire places to get the torches, then you're home free.

  • One of my favorite games growing up was Golgo 13 but I could never beat it. I usually only had it for one night because back in the day, everything was a 1 day rental. I'll have to give it a go here one of these days.
  • The topic title perfectly defines my experience with Holy Diver on the Famicom. I did beat it once, but it was because of a lucky glitch due to dirty pins. I couldn't be hurt. Lol. So I've seen the entire game, but I have never actually beaten it.
  • lol @ holy diver glitch.

My cart seems to freeze if i press buttons after I die before I respawn. And I have a huge habit of mashing buttons between deaths in any game I play.

of anything I actually want to finish and never can - blaster master. I always screw up on level 5 boss or last boss lol. Ill beat it eventually
  • Bad dudes is tough without cheating, Wrath of the black manta is brutal, also games with sort of sloppy controls like bad street brawler can be tough to finish... i have never finished battletoads either, and truth be told, i havent finished castlevania as well.
  • Here is one that i don't think will be on anyone else's list. I am not a fan of turn based strategy games but something about the controls and easy menus makes me love Genghis Khan!! I have memories of playing it with a friend that i would see when i visited my aunt and uncle on sandy hook the summer before i started high school. summer days at the beach and late nights with nintendo. but man i can get so far but i just cant conquer the entire map.

  • Double Dragon III is one that I haven't beaten to this day. Even with game genie codes! lol
  • I played the shit out of Blaster Master as a kid but never came close to beating it. I should try again...
