What kind of TV do you guys play your retro games on?

Like the title says. I'm looking for ideas on which one to buy. I probably won't be able to find an exact match, but I just want to know which brand/size offers the best quality. I've been playing for the past couple of months on a 15" LCD and I hate it!

  • Well i just use my Lcd tv and i totally understand, but its all I have the space for..

If you have anything similar to Goodwill, theyve always had 15-20" old style tvs for super super cheap (like 10 to 20 bucks).
  • I play mine on a 40 inch HD Emerson flat screen tv and I love it. However, I can't use the Zapper gun with it. That's the only drawback. I guess Nintendo forgot to consider HD tv's back in 1985.
  • i use a 36 inch Toshiba Tube TV so i can still shoot ducks.
  • I use my Sharp NES TV
  • Just an old 20 inch, I feel using an old TV is part of the experience!
  • I've got all of my systems hooked up to my 50" Panasonic Plasma, but I also have a 14" RCA flat screen CRT that I use if I want to play Zapper games.
  • Hi!!

Right now I have a Samsung LCD 21" and the retro games does not look very good on it.

But also we have a CRT Samsung tv and the look really good, but I don't know the size of the CRT tv.
  • Vizio 47" LCD works great. I also have my HP laptop with my emmulators that I play all over the house, including outside.
  • EDIT- Dub post, by biz-ad.
  • Hitachi CT1326 is my TV, complete with wood panel, one coax input, and the pitchforks from hell. Great thing, color's a tad off and there's an annoying buzzing sound if not precise perfectly, but other than that, it's just what I need.
  • I have a 27" Panasonic TV. It appears quite frequently in the game contest pics. All I know it that it's a Panasonic with the words "CompuFocus", "Quartz Synthesizer", and "Electrotune" scattered about on the front.  It's largely made up of wood and has "wheels" on the underside, and weighs like a ton.
  • 37" Sony Wega.  It was made for retro games.

    **edit**

connected to it I have: top loader, wii, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, neo geo ps3, xbox
  • A few months back after being fed up with old games on my HDTV, I got a Sony Trinitron 19" at Goodwill, looks amazing.
  • 36" sony (wega?) crt in my game room (snes and nes connected), 26" dynex lcd in my bedroom (wii and my snes-101 connected). neither TV are mine which makes it that much more awesome.

edit: unsure of sony type. it's big and i don't want to move it.
  • I've been using my sony 46" LCD kdl46z4100s it's pretty good but no blasting ducks for me
  • Sharp NES TV for NES and LCD for the rest. But if I had that Nintendo made RF box to use the RF cable I'd put the n64 on the sharp too because 3d systems of that first gen have glitches and the n64 has game breaking lighting and shadow issues.
  • I use the GX TV. It may be a bit small but I love that thing.
  • Wow, you guys make me feel bad. I have a 36" Sony WEGA rear projection as my main tv...

In my game room I have a 19 or 21" RCA that Ive had for about 20 years (no joke). Its the same TV I played all my NES/SEGA/N64 games on growing up. I do, however, plan on buying a nice TV and moving the WEGA into the game room. Then Ill put the RCA in the basement.
  • I have a 20" RCA CRT for my zapper/rob titles

a 40" Samsung LN40C530 for my majority of gaming

and there is a 52-55" (dont remember exact size) In the home theatre that belongs to the fiance that has her ps3 on it along with my platinum gamecube and my extra N64 as she wanted to play through ocarina of time

My 40" has My top loader, My SNES, MY N64, My Indigo Gamecube and my Wii on it.

Stacked beside it are 3 toasters, 1 black DOL-001, and ROB

I had one of these years ago, it was really handy to have the optional headphone jack. My second best to that (and current choice) is an old Commodore 1702 monitor.
  • 50" LG LCD in the family room, 42" LG LCD in the bedroom, 27" Sony Wega in the NES room...
  • I have games in 3 seperate rooms in my home. I have my 51" Hitachi CRT HD rear projection television in my living room. I have a 27" ESA in the bedroom. And last but not least my MAME cabinet with a 25" Wells Gardner monitor in my office. Basically, my home is just one big arcade.

  • im using a 64 inch 1998 rca rear projector tv.....this thing is huge, but plays the classics like they are supposed to be.....BIG!

  • 42" LCD, some screen re-adjusting now and then, but not enough to be annoying. Perfectly happy with it
  • living room:

    Sharp NES TV

40" Samsung DLP with a toaster, SNES, n64, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, and xbox360 on it

55" Hitachi DLP with Wii and PS3 (selling this TV soon to get a Samsung LED)

    my room:

32" Samsung LCD with my gaming PC and another SNES
  • The newer consoles are always hooked up to my 37 (ish) inch LG LCD in the living room, but I have a good size CRT in the game room. None of my other consoles are ever hooked up, so I usually bring them out to the LCD to play.
  • 55" vizio LCD..........love it.
  • i play my retro games on a retro style tv. no flatscreens here! i use a polaroid and it has two hookups for A/V so i can plug more than one system in at a time. its basically set up just for gaming. And the color is great too.
  • I have a 36 inch panasonic CRT that currently has the famicom plugged in and a 20 inch (i think) LCD that currently has the intellivision plugged in.

Edit: 21 ince maybe?  24?  something like that.
  • Everything on my crappy 50inch plasma samsung, have a toshiba 13 inch CRT available upstairs (actually belongs to me) but I have no extra space for it in my room. There is also 2 32" CRT tv in the house, but I rather do all my gaming in my room.
