haha thanks for the advise all. I'm gonna pass and just get one that is already graded...if someone wants to give me a good deal on one ;-) (Heck any Zelda for that matter hahaha)
With game cases that have 'cut outs' in them, like the "recycle" design in plastic-saving new DS cases, there is a very unfortunate tendency that the box art and plastic can depress through the void. Assuming the plastic exterior itself is without scratches and not stretched, how heavily does VGA deduct for "depressed" art inserts that may be a little sagged in the cut outs? I'm thinking about sending in a game like this and the plastic doesn't look warped or scratched, but the box art has sagged a bit in to the case void.
So, I have a quite a few sealed games, but am hesitant with grading due to cost when I think I could just be adding more to the collection instead of plastic cases and stickers. But then I got this, and truly think it is beautiful, but am still wondering - is this worth grading? I'm afraid to send it in if its going to get a low grade Main concerns - bottom security sticker, front original price sticker, and plastic hangtab. Othewise, the box has no flaws that I can see. The bottom right corner *appears* to be dented, but its actually just the way the plastic is wrapped. Thoughts? Im on the fence, and this is probably one of my nicest *popular* titles
Overall it does have nice stickers but that security sticker will bring the grade down. I'd say ~85 without it, assuming it comes off with no issues and ~80 with it.
I just received a sealed game that has sticker residue from a security tag. Would it be better for me to try and remove it with goo gone or something similar, or to send it into VGA and have them clean it?
Not an idiot at all. I sent in a Black Box game without asking for cleaning etc. Ended out sending that back and paying a recase fee just to clean it. Learned that the hard way.
Thinking about grading this guy. Sharp corners, very little damage except on the back there is a piece of plastic missing and a crease on the back side. Is that going to down my grade to hell or is it not a big deal?
I just want to add here that the term "Gem Mint" means absolutely perfect, 100% flawless. It is not possible to have something that is Gem Mint with flaws.
And I am just curious, what does the most damage as far as the grade goes? What happens if it only had one of the above defects? Would it get gold? How about two defects? I am just trying to get a picture on the grading thinking.
so I emailed VGA and asked them about my grade and they emailed me back with information that it got an 85+, When I checked the serial this morning on their verify serial number page it shows an 85. Is this normal?

Couldn't the people who have sent items to VGA make a little database containing information about wich games/consoles fall under wich of the 7 size-categories?
Sure it's not that hard for everyone to do it him/her-self but still, why have people go through the process over and over when not really needed? The information could be made into a sticky-thread for everyone to see and determine the right option in 1 sec.

I still wouldn't touch that thing with your wallet.

1. One of the corners is barely poking out (the rest are crispy mint)
2. the front plastic has something rubbed on it (like a shoe mark on a gym floor)
3. has a small mark on the front
should I get this graded? everything else is gem mint. What do you guys think it will grade?

I'm not sure what happened there, but there have been legit games with weird seal mistakes. An H-Seam on the front comes to mind

Okay, so I got this locally, and it is in GEM MINT condition, except for the following flaws:

So the seal is legit?
