Old generic Sachen boxes

I'm trying to figure out which Sachen games came in the old generic box with penguins, weird green monsters and little red hood on the side. Here is what I mean by "old generic box" : http://www.nintendoage.com/ind...Game_Variation_ID=334

So far I've seen Jovial Race, Silent Assault, Penguin & Seal and Pyramid II. Does anyone have other games than these? It looks like these boxes were only used on older Sachen games from 1989 or 1990. Their may come from Europe as I've seen them listed on European auction sites.

Also, does anyone have an italian Sachen box? I know Speedy have one for Penguin & Seal, but that's the only one I've seen. They must have been produced in very low quantities

  • Erik has a Mirco Gen. sticker on one of his Sachen boxes I know, pretty sure they had releases in Italy. I have a few of those boxes like you are asking about, but I don't know the titles off hand. I think Dain probably has several of them also. Did you search the whole database and look at the box pics?

Yes I did but I only found Silent Assault and Jovial Race with this particular box. I saw the 2 others I mentionned on european auction sites.

  • Yes, NGD is correct, My Galactic Crusader in original release SACHEN box is sealed new with Micro Genius sticker in Italian. The back of the box is English though.

I scanned those two (Silent Assault and Jovial Race), bought them at a local fleamarket here in Sweden, so they're european as well. I have, somewhere, a broschure from a company called "GAME-klubben", mailorder-company that sold some Sachen-games and NTDEC-machines. I believe there are pics in it on some Sachen-games. I'll look into it.

I'd like to see that! Do you remember if the NTDEC machine was NES or famicom? Also, did they only sell NTDEC machines or some game as well? I'm asking this because NTDEC is the company behind Caltron and they released some unlicensed famicom games in Europe. I've seen famicom carts of Fighting Hero, Hit Marmot, Brush Roller, War in the Gulf, Pokey and Porter on european auction sites.

This image (included with a NTDEC-clone I have) suggests that they sold 60-pins famiclones in Sweden. The same clone was the one I got the Sachen-broschure from: LINK

As you can see they've put 72-pins-Sachen games into the clone in the pic. It seems they first sold 60-pins clones, and then introduced the cool new NTDEC-console that could play both your favorite Sachen-games and your original NES-games.

As you also can see there are no pics of the old generic boxes, I was wrong. Nothing more interesting in the other pages, so I felt that I didn't need to scan those.

  • Thank you so much for scanning the ad. I've never seen Sachen games advertized before. When was this magazine published?
  • Wow.....this is very interesting to see that Sachen is even advertised anywhere like this. I'm looking forward to see where this thread leads to image
  • This issue of the magazine is from 1992, it's the only issue I have. About a year ago I spent some time trying to get in contact with the swedish mailorder-company, but without success. The phonenumbers and addresses in the magazine weren't used anymore..image
