Is your collection alphabetized?

Simple question:  Do you keep your carts in alphabetical order?  I do mostly.  I do make some exceptions like putting Super C after Contra as they're the same series.

On a side note:  I keep my NES games alphabetized with licensed games first, then unlicensed.  My repro. cart is grouped with my Lolo games.  I have mostly Tengen for unlicensed, although I do have Bible Adventures and might pick up Master Chu.  I don't know if I'll group the oddball blue carts separately from Tengen.

What about ye?

  • Mine is 100% in alpha order starting with #'s first. The only thing not in order are my multi carts which are stored seperately. My PAL stuff is on a different shelf also in alpha order. I usually keep a stack of new arrivals and put them into the shelves about once or twice a month. I would never be able to find anything otherwise.

  • You betcha ya image
  • no. loosely in publisher order but more disorganized than I would like right now.
  • I don't alphabetize my games for a console until I complete the respective library. Otherwise, I would constantly have to move around games for every new game that I got.
  • Hm.  I have my games stored in some Xerox boxes, so moving around isn't too bad.  Though I only get a few games in per week, so...
  • Mine are all in alphabetical order, but I also keep my bootlegs and PAL games stored separately. My hardware collection, however, is pretty chaotic. 80% is stored in storage boxes, and I just mixed and matched to fill the boxes, so I have to rely solely on my list & memory to know what I have and what I don't have...which gets complicated when I need to compare for variants...
  • alphabetized by company and by game name.

PAL are appart of the NTSC stuff.
  • Mine sure is alphabetized, makes things a lot easier to find as the collection gets bigger and bigger.
  • I would like to get it there, but it is nowhere close as of now. With under 400 games yet, it's still pretty easy to locate any game I want, but it's becoming a hassle.
  • As of right now NO, but now that i think about it i have been putting it off and putting it off. i think im gonna do it today. thanks for the reminder. heres what im gonna have to go through ughh lol......

I think this looks good since some games like Konami games got simular boxes so they look better together.

My games are totaly random unfortunatly. I would like to have them alphabetized, but if you get a new game you might end up moving hundres of games 1 space to the right, unless you reserve space for it.

  • Just do what I do. Set about 20-30 games aside and put them in to rotation once a month or something. It has worked pretty well for me so far.

I am actually shocked by the results so far of this poll.

Nice rack.  I need to get something like that to hold my NES, SNES, and Sega games...  I just have Xerox boxes.  That Snow Bros. box is awesome.  I only have the cart, although I need to get the manual sometime.  Alphabetizing that's gonna be a chore.  I hope you have a list o' games in order to go by.

I like how your color dreams carts vary in terms of corrosion. (bad joke) image
  • I don't envy your chore parpunk, such a bitch to do it the first time.

I alphabetized my NES collection when I got all the carts. It doesn't take THAT long, it just seems like it will when you are at the first few letters (like A, B, C, etc...). By the time you get past half way, it is really easy to find the next game you are looking for.
  • I alphabetize the carts by company first and then name of game. As for boxes on the shelf, I also alphabetize by publisher, but I keep all similarly-designed boxes together as I think it looks much, much nicer. For example, all my black-box games are lined up together, all of the Konami silver boxes are lined up together, purple Capcoms, etc, etc.
  • cool thanks jumpman for the encouragement :-), I still didnt get past letter B, and this evening i had a bunch of friends come over tonight and we rocked some old school games, so i had to clean them all up off the floor and put them back on the shelf LOL, so i basically gotta start again, but at least i have all the letters A B C D E F anf G grouped together lol, ugh...

Sivak, yea Me and my dad built that shelf about a year ago, got all the wood from lowes and stained it too. Its awesome man and was the only soultion to a perfect case for holding nes games. I tried from cd racks, to tubs, to droors, and nothing looks as god or works as good as this shelf. Its great, plus got the light up sign on it by building a box, painting it black, putting a light in it, and buying one of those nintendo plexi glass signs that were use din old nintendo cases. looks nice. Oh and yea those blue carts suck, after i organize em im gonna put em on the bottom lol.
  • Blue carts, my trick kills two birds with one stone. I store them backwards. This way when I pull it up, I can read the label without pulling it all the way out (it now faces towards me), and also the tab fits into the groove of whichever licensed NES cart is right in front of it, perfect!
  • Not just yeah but Oh Hell Yeah they are in alphabetical order. I store them in shelves in order and when I get anything new, almost never anymore I stick them sideways on the shelf they would go on. Then about once a month I stick them in and go through the chore of moving everything around. Only thing not alphabetized right now is -Can and my variants and pirate stuff. Variants I have been stacking waiting for a certain "tool" to come out to log them... :-)
  • mine are somewhat in order i hve my color dreams, bunch, rares, black box, and rares on a seperate shelf
  • i keep all my games in alphebetical order. if u dont when u get to haveing 800 different games u wont be able to find the ones u want to.
