Good or bad deal?

today i picked up lolo 3, TMNT 3 and megaman 6 for fifty bucks at a store today and it seemed like a good deal at the time but i cant help but think it was a bad idea, i checked ebay for completed auctions and what not but the prices seemed to jump all over the place for lolo and megaman

  • I always use lukiegames.com for comparison. Ebay is all over the place. Right now, they have lolo 3 for 41.97. I'd call it a pretty good deal. Those are all $30+ games on their own whenever I've seen them. You probably could have found better if you scoured flea markets and rummage sales. But if you flipped them on ebay you'd probably make a profit...
  • lolo 3 always seems to show up pretty reasonably priced in the wild. Got a minty cart myself for $15. If I were selling those games he on NA Id do Lolo3 @ $25, TMNT3 @ $15, and MM6 @ $25. $65 total. If you bought them for your collection, you did good man, no worries.
  • Yeah I wouldn't worry about it, you seemed to do pretty well, especially for a retail store. I'd say it's a pretty fair price, not an absolute steal but it's pretty tough to get those three for any cheaper.
  • thanks i just wanted to make sure either way ive been looking for these games for a while just never saw them at a fleamarket and yea these are for my collection

Lukie games - 20%? They are on the very high end of prices.

  • Yeah solid price for a collector. Not a lot of room for profit, but you did much better buying them at once instead of paying BINs + shipping on each. Lolo is a favorite of mine as well!

I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's a way to trick yourself into thinking you always made a good deal, but c'mon. I just dislike lukiegames in general, but there's no denying that they're always on the high end. I always look at the completed listings, high, low, and average and judge for myself whether or not I made a good deal.

But yeah, I'm with the others, I'd say you did fine; it was a fair transaction.
  • yea im glad i mean like i said i dont resell anything i buy if anything ill pick up extras for trades but thats about it. i just really wanted these games saw em all in one store and just basically went for it, they had a final fantasy 2 CIB in really mint condition for 70 bucks but i passed mainly because i didnt know if that was a good deal or not, when it comes to CIB i generally have no idea how much i should pay for what

Well, that's helpful.  What sites do you guys use?  I've been using Lukie because I like there mobile site and can usually flip it up on my phone while browsing through games.

If there's a better resource I'd love to know about it.

  • i use the videogame traders price guide app for iphone but idk if their pricing is based on loose carts or averages from ebay but it has this neat little thing where you can do a want and have list on the app which is pretty helpful
  • also just picked up a CIB knuckles chaotix for 45 bucks, box isnt in the greatest condition but the cart is nice and the manual is as well

If you want a quick, general idea, search eBay's completed listings and calculate the average price that it's been going for lately. I do that in addition to trying to remember (from looking at people's FS threads) what people's asking price has been for a game. NA users typically have the best deals and if I know I can get a better deal here, I don't buy it elsewhere. Of course, that's not set in stone, as theres deals to be made everywhere, but in regards to market value, that's what I do.
  • Like most of the people on the thread are saying, don't look at lukiegames for price information. There pretty expensive, and usually ask way more than the games actully worth. $30.97 for a cart only copy of Zelda OoT is a good example of how much they overcharge for their games, when you could easily get two or three copies for around that price on ebay auctions.

You got a good deal with the games you bought.
  • LukieGames tends to gobble up my auctions on the bay, and they pay premium for resale, if that's any indication. I get the feeling that they just grab as many copies of good games as they can and sell them regardless of condition at a flat rate.
  • yea i dont like how lukiegames doesnt give a condition of there games its kinda scary, i ordered my silver surfer from there and it came with a giant tear in the bottom right corner of the label
