Questions about Bonks Adventure

I just picked up a copy of Bonks Adventure today, and I knew it was quite rare. Is it a rental only? My copy has "Blockbuster" and "49004" written on it in black marker (which I cannot seem to get off). I paid $15.00 for it, was that too much? Cosmetically, that marker is the only problem with it. If its rental only, I presume Blockbuster was the retailer, eh?

  • not sure about rental only, but it would make sense cause its so rare. and YES $15.00 is a GREAT deal for that game. i know cart onl;ys bring about $35.00-$50.00 sometimes! plus its one of those rare but VERY AWESOME games. Congrats!
  • Yeah, good deal for sure -- I sold one last month for $60 in my store. Congrats -- that's a tough game to find, especially for cheap.
  • WOW! Thanks for the info guys. I cant wait to play it! I cant get it clean enough to play yet, even on my top loader. It must have had lots of play in its day! Its weird so far with my top loader experience. It seems more finicky than my toaster! I have only had it for 2 days, but maybe I stil havent cleaned it enough! I used the Official NES cleaning set, but I dont still have the bugs out I guess. BTW, are the top loaders somewhat staticy compared to the other? I know the difference is in the RF signal, but it just seemed clearer on my toaster.
  • The thing about Bonk is it's a pretty good game too.
  • Just got it going! I do love this game!! This find today rounded out my week of sweet finds! Guess its about time for a dry spell now image
  • I think the top loaders are known for being staticy
  • top loaders are known for having a crappy video output. I still do not understand what nintendo was thinking. to make a system that works better, but looks worse? I used to be strictly top load, but lately since i got a new front loader, ive been using it, and a front loader with AV hookups puts a top load to SHAME. Way clearer, sounds better. Also every top loader i have ever had had these jailbars running through the screen. kinda like little faint lines up and down. You can really tel when you play a game like super mario. Maybe try a front loader with a NOS pin connector. check that out.
  • My top loaders, (have had 2) never gave me any problems at all. Either I have been lucky or everyone else is crazy image

  • its not really a problem, its just the way every single game looks. they are not like glitches or white lines or anything. its almost like a burn in, in the output on the TV. I have had about 12 diffferent top loads and they all have it somewhat. just put in super mario, and then look real close at the tv throughout the blue sky. there will be lines running through the entire screen. You can also tell better on different TVs etc.
  • I just tired it with my toaster vs top loader, not any difference at all for me. Might be my TV or something. Both look great.

  • hmm very strange? i had a buddy of mine open up a sealed top loader before, and there were lines in it too? weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeirdd?
  • actually the top loader is liney because of the rf switch... the thing needs to be hooked up through av wires, u can buy modified top loaders on ebay that have av imputs added to them. picture then should be crystal clear...
  • or just make sure your RF connection is VERY tight like mine is. I use pliers to tighten mine so even if you move mine then it doesn't cause any lines at all. Not any different that AV wires that way. It is a bitch to undo though image

  • huh. never knew about that... im gonna try to tighten my rf connection and see if it fixes the lines...
  • I'm probably talking out of my ass here, but I thought it was determined that the lines and whatnot are caused by the RF unit inside the NES being to close to the PPU and causes interference. Maybe fixable by adding some shielding to the RF unit.
