How do you organize your collection?
Just out of curiosty!
Do you arrange your collection by title, release date, genre.. Or in any other order?
I currently have my collection arranged by release date/sles/sces id. But it looks a bit messy, so I'm considering arranging everything by title..

The basics.
Having Platinum and Black Label games Separate. looks more tidy and organized.
Or even your favorite games on display. Luckily i don't have a huge collection, i can fit all my games in my TV cabinet.
I have my platinums to the side, as well. Then I usually out them away when I obtain the black lable copy (:
By system, though certain systems with few games (Nintendo's) are grouped together.
Type(size), Height & colour(region).
Platinum's live on the back row with sports games.
Release date . . .that's a new one on me JessicaKathleen I must admit. Personally i find it more effective to organise by console then by genre - so it's all racing games together and FPS etc etc.
I've split out all the big boxed Collectors Editions in a seperate location and then on the shelves i've sieved out the Limited/Collectors stuff - keeping them all together but sorted into steelbooks, tins, digi-paks, slipcases, bigger boxes etc.
It's an interesting topic, actually, because I'm betting everybody has a slightly different method for displaying their stuff.
whenever i can fit the dam things, i don't have time to be fussy with my game collection as i have very limited space as it is
I have mainly PSP games/movies on my shelf, so for me it's organized by Games > Title, then below that it's UMD Movies > Title. I only display my used copies of UMD's, with my sealed copies being stored up in the closet along with some larger box sets, demo's and other goodies.
i have damp and mold in my flat so i have to be even more careful with my collection, a few of my consoles and light coloured discs have even gone yellow too, i really hate that.
mine are grouped by console and then good old alphabeticle order (so tired think my spelling might be off)
Alphabetical by system. The only way to do it. I've taken to splitting the GH stuff to the end of the main collection for that system, but otherwise everything is sorted by alpha.
I have them by system and then alphabetical for easy finding of things, however games that are in a series but start with different letters I keep together, for instance Wizards and Warriors 2 is called Iron Sword, but I still keep it next to Wizards and Warriors 1.
per system, then alphabetical
some systems have the rare/expensive games seperated from the main bulk on a display
I organize my collection alphabetically. I think it is the best way, but it is just my preference. As I am accumulating games for a library they will be disorganized, but when I eventually finally do organize them, it is always alphabetically.

Alphabetical, of course. Each system is on its own shelf.
I hate Platinum copies of games. That's why I only have a few. Also, when I am looking for a specific game, I'll never buy the Platinum copy, even if I see it. They're hideous!
And organizing? Well, I just place games with each other if they belong in a series. For instance, I have my Final Fantasy-titles stacked on top of each other, my Tekken-titles and so on. And with that, I also try to put genre's with each other. It helps me a lot when I need to find a specific game.
Not very practical, perhaps. But it's all I can do now. In the future, I'm sure it'll become more organized.
Firstly, per console/system they are for.
If all boxes look the same (say, PS1 and PS2) , they will be organized per genre.
If boxes look different (say NES), they will be organized per publisher.
Rare stuff may jump out of order. It does not like the masses.

i guess i am not the only one, players choice and all other variants including the ps3 ones drive me around the bend
I organize my Playstation 1 collection by Sles and Sces Numbers and I have the list in Excel . And Platinum is a great stuff I always use them to change a black label case with near mint platinum case
I arrange by console, but then after that I have a weird system that only really makes sense to me. It's based heavily on genre, and then by which games have a similar 'feeling'. I have all RPGs together, arranged by how similar they feel to me (with all games in a series in sequence, obviously). Then I have all the fighters together (divided between 2D and 3D), platformers, racing (with 'straight' no weapons racers separate from the ones with weapons, such as WipeOut, etc.), all horror games together, puzzlers, RTS games, point-and-clicks...
So, in short... no organisation whatsoever. But if one was moved, I'd know instantly.
Maybe I should start going out and interacting with people again.
I think I may have the weirdest system for my ps3 games but here goes
-Steelbook, with art book, normal etc
-new style spine and old style
-move and non-move
-cover matchingness (colour font style)
-Series
I currently have them all seperated by console. Dreamcast, DS PSP and GBA games all in Alaphabetical order in my room. Then downstairs we have all the PS3 and 360 games on shelf beside the TV. I then have my PS1 and PS2 games in a CD wallet (First thing which will be changing once I return home!) and I recently bought a Wii so I have a couple Wii/GC games beside the TV... wow didn't realised I had so many consoles until now... I'm not one for clutter
Oh and always alphabetical... when you have such a collection organising it anyother way just gets chaotic. Though I do have a place for all my PS1 Final Fantasy games to shine above the rest
I keep cases on my shelf and discs in a wallet.
I have them in a pool out back. I swim through them naked every thursday, for 5 minutes.
lol.
The other day I used mine for target practice.
Well I got in a shit ditched my phone breaking the screen, the next day I noticed
I smashed completely through two ps2 spines ripping the plastic, the paper & obliterating
the middle section of the spine.
I do have things alphabetically organized at the moment. Not sure how long that will last.
