Not really a fan either. That's exactly how I feel about the SE repros as well. I am afraid to jump on one now. At least these are clearly reproductions, but it would not be impossible to make them look more authentic. It has getting to the point to where I will now have to open up the real expensive ones like these and verify that they are legit. Even then, it is questionable if Paypal would interevene in such a case.
I can see both sides...depends on if someone is scamming or representing as real when they are clearly NOT is my main concern. Looked cool to me and I don't have the Panesians - and didn't seem too high priced for repros.
Seemed like almost everyone agreed that single cart repros were a bad idea, even those that wanted the multicart. If these do not have a significant title screen hack then its even more of a problem. Like dangevin said, it won't be stopped when people just want money.
yeah. how long before somebody takes these boards and puts them into a panesian style cart. Probably not long. Times like this I'm glad I collect sealed and don't have to worry about cart swapping
Seems like the best way to avoid a scam would be to have the boards documented in the database. Then people who took the risk could refer to those pics and know right awat if there is something wrong. It would also provide photo documentation for dispute purposes.
But the scammer won't send you picts of the board, you can only see that once you have cart in hand. By then the scam is complete and you are screwed.
$90 is a really good price? Typical repro on nes sites is $27, so for the 3 cart bundle you are paying an extra $9... Its additional cost for no value added, especially if the ROM isn't changed at all.
I agree with that completely, but places like eBay will not allow pirated material to be sold. My point is, if you can side by side compare photos and make it understood that you spent the money on a genuine copy, you might have a chance to recover your money. Even if the scammer took it and ran, Paypal can still overdraft their account and make them responsible to pay it back to them. Or if you used a credit card, you can chargeback the amount and let them deal with it on their own.
the labels look really really good. im sure before long people will be able to make manuals boxes and carts that will be almost impossible to tell they arent real.
Ugh don't go there... repro boxes and books would be terrible. I don't like these carts at all... however I guess I would be ok with them if the title screen says reproduction or something so that they can't be cart swapped into SCREWING someone over BIG TIME!!
I'm not a fan of these being out there on individual carts, though I think the notion that someone could swap them into Panesian carts is flawed. Wasn't it already discussed in the other thread that Panesian carts were basically impossible to find, and that the Panesian games themselves were the only games known that used them?
I'm not saying a clever scammer couldn't use these repros to rip someone off. Obviously they could, which is why individual carts doesn't sit well with me. At some point though, people have to take responsibility for what they buy and do some research. If a seller won't send pics of the boards, DON'T BUY. If the cartridges don't match exactly, DON'T BUY. People are so into getting a deal that they use poor judgement. If you're going to drop hundreds or thousands on a video game, know with absolute certainty that you're getting the real deal. If you're not 100% that it's legit, wait for the next one. If you're not willing to put in the effort to make sure you're getting an authentic game, then you can't blame the community when you get ripped off.

i really don't care. if someone is stupid enough to buy these as originals then... well then they are just that, stupid.
if they do start ending up as really good fakes then I do have a problem.
unfortunately this sort of thing can't and won't be stopped (like so many things in our world), people just need to educate themselves and really know what they are buying.
so from here on out i'd say on super rares... BUYER BEWARE.

It's only a matter of time that these get into the wrongs hands and we have another Cragslist scam on our hands. It's inevitable.
I give it a month tops

nothing good can come from these
if I had enough $ i'd buy them and dismantle the boards
nothing good can come from these
lol that wouldn't even work, cuz if you keep buying them, he could just keep using the money to make more.
