Heads up for anyone dithering over buying Soul Calibur V CE
Although this was advertised online by GAME at £70, all store copies were just £60 yesterday. I took my online receipt straight back and got a £10 refund.
So . . .if you were thinking about it - there's no excuse now

I pre-ordered this for £69.99. However, it arrived damaged. A few days later it had dropped to £59.99. I held onto it for a week before sending it back, by which time GAME had reduced the price to just £44.99! Needless to say I got refunded the full £69.99, and then proceeded to order another at the cheaper price. That too arrived damaged, but when I returned it they had already sold out. FML!
Yes, Gemini a cautionary tale that I think I might finally be learning some lessons from. I went pre-order crazy during the height of last years release schedule and ordered everything i thought i could afford . . .only to see the inevitable price slump on many of them.
This year's different. I'm playing a waiting game unless I'm absolutely certain it's gonna be a sell-out. Stuff like the Max Payne CE you can't be sure about, although I'm suspicious of the "until 2 April only" pre-order tactic because i think it might just be a hustle.
It's already worked with the Streetfighter X Tekken Special edition cos that's down from £60 to £43 at Amazon . . .and i still haven't bought it
Sod the Ninja Gaiden 3 CE at the price as well. The previous game's CE was an HMV exclusive and it wasn't long before they were knocking it out at £15.
I'm playing it safe this year as well, being a little more picky about what I pre-order, especially after GAME doing this several times lately - What's even more annoying is that they have a 30 day returns policy, yet they still half the price of some CE's within this time! No wonder they've entered administration with sales tactics like that - I'm sure I'm not the only one that sent SCV back for a full refund and then re-ordered at the cheaper price. Even if mine hadn't been damaged, I would've still returned it out of principal!
As for Street Fighter X Tekken - I had my order kindly cancelled by GAME two days before release. Cheers! But in a way I'm glad, as I'm happy to wait it out and grab it when another retailer has it at half price. That said, I did that with the SF IV CE, and then couldn't get hold of it afterwards...
I ordered the Ninja Gaiden 3 CE from Tesco and used my Clubcard vouchers, which brought it down to a respectable £40. I just hope they use some common sense and ship in a box rather than a grey plastic bin liner!
It goes for that much over there? Yikes. It goes for about the same over here... in USD though. >_>
