Do we have any PS3 promo collectors on the forum ??

Just bought my first demo yesterday - Darkness II - but it's the first time I've seen one of these in a proper jewel case with inlay detailing controls etc.

Do all demos typically come this way because, if so, i'm thinking of braching out into demo collecting for FPS and racing games

  • Any chance of pics please as I've never seen any like this although I am fairly new to collecting.

  • Would've thought they weren't common due to psn demos.

  • I you don't decide to branch out then I'd be interested in buying/trading for it.

Sorry Titchy, I'm gonna play it and i like it so much I'm definitely going to keep it. I'm a bit intrigued as to why I've never seen a properly cased one before.

I'll stick a piccy up though, when I get access to a camera 8-)
  • I used to collect the demo discs that come with the Official PlayStation Magazine here in the Netherlands, but I have stopped doing that. The only games I think are worth having are those on PS1/PS2, because most of the PS3 demos that are on the disc, can be downloaded through PSN.

Oh well worth a try . I did some googling and came up empty but will do more research see if I can fond anything.
  • Right, there ya go Titchy . . .piccy of the box and disk. I've seen a few other promos on ebay with proper jewel case inlays but they seem to be few and far between. Might just go for a couple.

  • Oh its not a demo it's the full game. I've got Uncharted 2 just without a cover as it never came with one. I think all new first party game promos now come with artwork. They are the copies that are sent out to reviewers.

  • I've been thinking myself of promo collecting.

  • Yeah, I think i might have confused a few people by asking for demo collectors. Should have been promo collectors, I think.

  • I think I've only seen one ebay. You can normally pick these up at launch foe a few quid less than the retail version.

  • Birds of Steel
    Resistance 3
    Resident Evil 5
    Catherine
    Yakuza Dead Souls
    Soul Calibur 5
    Twisted Metal
    All have covers.

  • I have the yakuza one on watching but I didn't see the Soul Calibur V. I'll take a look, thanks

  • Sonic Generations and Rayman Origins also have covers

  • Started a topic with a list. Any ones I've missed(probably alot) please say.

  • If anyone collects promos on any console I would love to see pics of your collection.

    You've already seen mine, Titchy

The only other promo i have is a steel tin and goodies which was issued as a promo (I think) for Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30. There's a pic of it in one of my threads somewhere . . .
  • Have you bought any more kenny. Once i recieve my one in the post i'll post pics of all of mine

  • No, haven't bought any more Titchy. The temptation is to go for newer games that you haven't got so you can play them as well.

Might go for Nier or Binary Domain promos when i get some dosh.

  • I've bought LBP and Heavy Rain although neither have covers.

  • I'm thinking about RE Operation Raccoon City promo but I think I'll wait till it comes down

  • I'm only going for the ones with the inlay covers because they look more "official" and collectable.

Wonder how many of these get produced ??

  • A 50-2000 at a guess but not sure.

same here, only have a few demo discs though.
  • Yeah, sorry guys and gals. I messed up the title of this thread. Should have said promo collectors . . .which is something else entirely.

But, speaking of magazine demo discs, they are getting poorer and poorer because games companies are putting out less and less demos. Judging by some of the crap i've seen demoed they wouldn't want you to play their game before you bought it anyway

  • I only have one ad that was pretty poor as it was pretty much old games and I could download all of them of the store. Still good if you don't have your PS3 connected to the Internet.

  • Promos, I see. Now, I've had a few of them, but I find myself trading them off mostly. I've traded off promos for YAKUZA 3, YAKUZA 4 and YAKUZA: Dead Souls, for instance.

I still have a few left, though. I'll snap a picture of them soon and post it here. Nothing rare, though. Just promos of Super Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter X Tekken, WWE '12, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and a few more. Some have covers, others don't.

  • Okay De-Reyman, that would be great. If you have links to any sites that deal with promos that would be good too.

I finally figured out how to edit the title of this thread so it's correct now . . . ops:
