By popular demand... Gemini-Phoenix's "Room Of Treasure"
By popular demand...
It's about time I showed off some up-to-date pictures of my video game room! I thought it warranted a thread all of its own, rather than a single post in the collections thread
The last time I took pictures of this room was back in January 2009 - Almost three and a half years ago! Since then, my collection has grown exponentially, and there have been many additions since, including hundreds of CE's and entirely new collections!
I've spent the last two days re-organising the room so that everything fits more tidily on the shelves, but there's still a lot of huge CE's and unsealed games which I cannot display, and which have to live stacked in crates in the centre of the room. Storage-wise, this isn't a probem, but it does tend to look unsightly whenever I have visitors round. As much as I would love to display everything, space restrictions vastly prohibit me from doing so, which is one of the reasons I am looking to move house in the near future, preferably to somewhere which has more potential shelf space for me to display my collection!
I've tried to photograph as much as I possibly could, but the pictures don't do the collection any justice! Like I say, theres much that I haven't shown, and would be impossible for me to get it all in without it looking untidy.
If it makes it any the more impressive, 95% of what you see below is still sealed! Aside from a few dozen Xbox and GameCube games on one shelf, almost everything else is factory sealed! I generally keep all of the unsealed games that I play in my bedroom near to where my consoles and TV are, or under the bed. My "Room Of Treasure" is more or less for my sealed collections!
Overview

SteelBook Collection

Group Pictures

In case anyone was wondering, the room is only 9'6"(L) x 5'11"(W)
There are 209 SteelBooks in total, of which 136 are Dvd SteelBooks, and 73 are Blu-Ray SteelBooks (at time of counting) - Missing only 30 from a full UK set!
There are over 180 sealed Nintendo DS games!
If you want any other stats, just ask!

Wow, awesome collection .
That's one mighty impressive collection! Oh, and having a Lament Configuration means you're boss.
Your space problem is apparent, seeing how narrow the room is. I love game rooms with a library type of setup and by the looks of it, your collection could pull it off.
I want to break into your house while you're away and open everything one by one... very slowly.

It's a Dvd box set by Anchor Bay, and includes the first three Hellraiser films + bonus disc. Anchor Bay make some of the most impressive Dvd CE's in my opinion

The thing is, there's a window one end, and a door the opposite end, and lots of floor space inbetween. There's not very much you can really do with a room like that, except carpet the walls with shelves and store the big box CE's in the centre. Unfortunately, I have more than most people, so when the room is full it just looks untidy. I much prefer it as you see it in the pics above, but alas, it can't stay like that
As the collection grows, I have to keep shuffling stuff around. I wasn't expecting my DS collection to grow so much, and it's already outgrown the three shelves I allocated, into a shelf in the cabinet to the left, and another shelf in teh cabinet opposite! But due to the way the shelves are arranged inside the cabinets (one shelf is permanently fixed 2/3 of the way down), I'm limited to the configurations I can have, especially as the majority of modern games are Dvd case size (except PlayStation, Dreamcast, DS, 3DS, and GameBoy games)
Well done, matey. Too impressive for words

I showed your pics to my missus and she now promises to stay outta my face with regard to clogging my house up
My "spare" room is on a par with yours but, sadly, it's fulla crap like comics and paperbacks and DVD boxed sets etc.
Note to self . . .get a fuckin' life one day soon . . . . .
How on earth do you afford them?
You do play all them games in the packets right... they're not sealed for life... that would be tragic if so
All that stuff... sealed in bags. I hate to see hat. But even so, the collection itself is huge!

I have been collecting for a very long time. The majority of the games were bought back in the day, when shops were having clearance sales, or prices on eBay were low and supply was high. It's much more fulfilling to buy games cheap and then watch them increase in value over the years, rather than pay a premium for them once they're already rare

About 95% of everything you see in those pics is still factory sealed. What you don't see is my other unsealed collection, which I keep in my other room (under the bed. Lol!). Most games I want to play I will buy a second copy once the prices have dropped. At least the games are there at my disposal for whenever I choose to open them to play

I use thick poly bags to protect the seals of most of the CE's, especially SteelBooks and DigiPaks. They're unsightly, but they do their job and protect from dust / moisture / accidental scuffing

Great collection by the way! You have an art for packing the tiniest things in plastic..
Seriously though I don't think you will ever open those games. You've had them this long why would you open them? Your pics as grand as they are remind me of a small independent games shop. If there was a sign on the door you could usher people in and talk prices....LOL
I often think what would people make of our collection habits in the profession I work in (psychiatry). And In some sense I worry about my hoarding, but yours is on a different scale. Is your partner supportive of your collection? You don't have to answer that.
Well if it makes you happy I think more power to you. Happy gaming!
Surprised you don't have the limited edition Star Wars 360!! That would be the one I would want.

It'll come. I'm waiting for the price to drop a bit more before I buy. They're having trouble selling them for the full £350, and most retailers have dropped the price to under £300 now, but they're still not selling and I feel they could drop a bit further before I'll get one. As soon as they hit £250 I'll snap one up
I live not far away from a huge Tesco superstore, and visit almost daily for my groceries, so I always make a point of checking their prices and stock availability. They apparently haven't sold a single one from their allocation of 6, so I think I can safely hold out until they put them on promotion
