I find it tremendously difficult to play without the Vaus, the d-pad movement is very sluggush. But Arkanoid is tremendously difficult to play anyways
BTW does everyone know that it's got user-servicable calibration? That rubber dot near to the wheel isn't just a grip. Pluck it out with tweezers or your fingernails if you haven't bitten them all off. If your controller is "broken" as in the ship won't go all the way to the edge, you can center it by manipulating the dial inside with a little flathead screwdriver.
The tough part is not dying while you're trying to calibrate it
The usual problem with Vaus Controllers is the three small metal prongs that make contact with the inner piece of the knob. They either break off (rare), or simply get bent back to far to make contact anymore. Very easy to open and bend them back in position to make it like new.
