  • Ask for pics. Prolly a load of crap.
  • it is my understanding that they dont have a seal on them. i got mine from a factory sealed case and it never had a seal on it, so i have no idea.
  • I had always heard these were never sealed so....... sounds like a scam
  • beat me to it
  • It's really hard to believe in such a wholesale happening on craigslist, but if I was in Los Angeles, I would probably shoot him a call just by curiosity.
  • This game didn't come sealed.
  • Yeah, the sealed argument is not very credible.
  • How did it come? Just boxed? Thats weird.
  • yea, just boxed. the box was so damn big that they couldnt get a seal around it, i guess. sucks for me, cuz i would rather mine be "sealed," since i bought it that way, but oh well! mine has never been played, at least! haha
  • so earth bound came in a HUGE box?

can anyone post a pic of their complete earthbound?

    with the big box.

  • ^^^ I don't have a pic of the box handy, but think Mario Paint.
  • Mario Paint came with a big box?
  • Yeah, that's right. I remember Earthbound came in a huge box with a guide inside. The box size was to accomodate the guide. I don't remember ever seeing this game with cellophane on it, but that's not to say there wasn't some sort of seal like a sticker on the box flap, though. Man... I don't remember! I really want to say that there was not any sort of seal.

As for Mario Paint, yeah, it had a big box too to accomodate that hard plastic mousepad and the mouse.

A quick google image serach turned up this which gives you an idea of the scale of the Earthbound box...

  • wow,... those are nice.
  • It is BS. They never came with a seal of any kind. These are pics of mine. I need the tool and manual for MP, but you get the idea. Also, Bomberman with the multi-adapter came in a big box as well. Photobucket Photobucket
  • wow, glad I posted this here. Wasn't really looking to spend 500 clams on a game anyway, but that's pretty interesting. If he "resealed" them... wow, what a d-bag (though not surprised, there is no end to douchebaggery in Los Angeles)!

Do you have the scratch n sniffs for your Earthbound?

  • what are the scratch and sniffs? are they in that guide? i never opened mine, but whatever came in it from the factory is in there.
  • It is kind of odd that Mario Paint can be sealed but Earthbound isn't. I have heard of people having sealed Earthbounds but I always assumed they were full of poo!

Yeah the scratch 'n' sniffs are in the guide, you could also win a pizza air freshener for guessing what the mystery sticker was.

  • Yes, poo indeed. Here is what the Scratch and Sniffs look like Seth. It is a little rippley on the top of the page because of the stiff spine. They are in the back of the guide. BTW, still no Joel. I think he's scarred for life image

  • damn that's bad ass dude.
  • I've got the scratch and sniff stickers to mine as well... but they've been sniffed image

Back in the day, if you guessed the mystery smell, they would send you an Earthbound Pizza Air Freshener. One sold on EBay a few months ago. Pretty rare.
  • It did sell then? Do you know how much? I saw the guy wanted ridiculous money for it and eventually separated the cart from the auction. I was interested, but was saving for my NWC cart so it was pretty much out of the question. I was lucky enough to get a guide that the stickers had not been scratched. The mystery smell was old socks, btw.
  • I am pretty sure one just sold on E-bay with the orginal shipping envolope from Nintendo,Last time I checked it was at $250 or so.
  • That's a but much for me. The thing that kills me is that I saw one sell a few months ago with a cart only EB and the auction ended at around $85. >_< I could have bought it and sold the cart for $60 I bet. I figured there was no way it could go that low and it would get sniped. That will teach me.
  • You are talking about the air freshner prize correct? This one was pulling top dollar becuase it was unopended and included the orginal envolope and documents from Nintendo.
  • Yeah. This one didn't have an envelope, but for around $25 who could bitch, right? I don't want it bad enough to pay $250, but I would go through the trouble to sell the cart to pay only the $25 difference for one. I'd probably go as high as $100 for one without flinching, even opened. I think this one might have slipped under the radar or people were just broke that week because I never thought it would go that low.
