site is often very slow

I have noticed that the site is very often extremely slow, mainly on the forums. Sometimes the pages load instantly, and sometimes it takes anywhere up to 10 seconds. I'd say that 75% of the time, pages seem to be loading slowly.



I kept putting off saying something, since I assumed everyone had to be aware of this. But it still hasn't changed over the past two weeks. It is also affecting PSC. Is this a database issue? Web hosting?



Also, I noticed that, since the merge of PSC, the "preview" function when writing a forum post never works. It just shows no text, with the usual "close" button on the window. Maybe another database problem, or some sort of time-out?

    We're almost done with our S3 integration, which offloads all binaries to Amazon's servers. This should free up a lot of server resources and hopefully makes things a lot faster. If that doesn't work, we'll continue to troubleshoot. We had network issues as well, where the server's TCP stack wasn't releasing connections, which was preventing new connections. This appears to be ongoing, and I have our hosting provider looking into this.
