Modded a toaster NES to play like a toploader
Sorta. Still loads from the front, but it's a true card edge connector instead of that zero force insertion style.

I went about this a little differently than the first time I did this mod, as seen here. Motherboard's still in its original orientation, and the cart goes in a little deeper for more stability. Makes a solid tight connection (such that I couldn't position the connector any deeper or it'd be a pain to pull cartridges out) has good a/v quality, and doesn't get as tall as a top-loader so it's alright to stick into an entertainment center. Better compatibility than those clones on ebay, that's for sure.

Great work! What did you use as a donor for the edge connector? I'm guessing a front loader could be modded to be a top loaders as well by cutting a hole in the top?
It is essentially a disabled game genie. They have one of the best 72-pin card edge connectors out there imo. Nice wide contacts, gold plated, extra springy.
I believe that RGB mod requires a specific PPU from a vs. game board. If I ever saw one cheap I'd probably try it.
